Job Title: Equine Veterinary Assistant/Technician (Overnight, Ambulatory & Hospital)
Location: Performance Equine Vets, Aiken, SC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Rotating shifts, weekends, and on-call coverage dependent on position
Compensation: Based on experience; vet care discount, PTO, professional on job training

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Equine Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team and support one of our multiple service areas, including overnight ICU, ambulatory field services, and hospital treatments.
Key Responsibilities
Overnight (ICU/ER):
Monitor and provide nursing care for hospitalized and critical care patients
Administer IV fluids, medications, and assist in emergency procedures
Document vital signs and changes in patient condition accurately
Maintain communication with veterinarians and update treatment plans as needed
Ambulatory:
Assist veterinarians on farm calls for wellness exams, lameness evaluations, dental procedures, and emergency care
Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and medications
Handle and restrain horses safely and confidently in diverse settings
Provide client education and support on equine care and treatment
Hospital:
Hospitalized patient care (medication administration, IV Fluid & CRI Pump management, bandaging, handwalking/turnout,foal handling, +/- IVC placement, NGT placement based on experience)
Maintain clean and organized treatment areas and stalls
Perform in house lab work and assist with diagnostics
Support patient intake and discharge
Qualifications
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred but not required
Previous equine handling experience is required
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently, multitask, and stay calm in emergencies
Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working on your feet for extended periods
Valid driver's license (for ambulatory role)
