Happy 🤩

The first foal Friday of the 2025 season and it’s our first foal 💥 World On Fire (Fastnet Rock) was our first mare to foal this season and her Almanzor filly is keeping her on her feet! Did you guess who would foal first 👀

Current foal count for 2025: 1️⃣

Once a month we do a ‘lunch and learn’ with our Windsor Park crew, and this month it was all relevant for this time of the year - a parade of our stallions (shuttle and resident) and gearing up for the 2025 foaling season.

We had a presentation on foaling from our resident vet Dr Jude Latimer, who is entering her 10th season with us, followed by Steve Till and Nick Hewson speaking about our stallions - pedigree and performance. 📃☑️🏇

And most importantly, lunch (as voted on a poll by the people who matter!) was pizza - some carbs before another busy afternoon on the farm. 🍕

It's important to have great role models to look up to!

3 of our 2024 yearling colts getting a few tips from Sherwood Forrest, winner of the New Zealand Derby in 2020.

Sherwood Forrest is currently in retraining with EventStars Ltd, and proving to be just as good off the track as he was on it...

We are 1 day away from the beginning of the official 2025 foaling season and our first foals hitting the ground…so what’s a better way to get excited than guess as to who is going to foal first! 🧐

Drop us a reaction relating to which mare you think will be the first to give us a foal this season (last service dates included).

Great to have Little Avondale Studs Sam and Dame Catriona Williams come to see Profondo (and Rod) yesterday. Not sure which they thought was more handsome? 🧐😝
(though if you look at Sams camera roll, it seems he was most taken with Murray the Mule!)

Sam & Cat were smart enough to secure a breeding right in our exciting young stallion, and he’s left them 3 lovely yearlings, who are headed for the 2026 Australasian yearling series.

⭐ Meet our team ⭐

With 1 week until the foaling season starts, the next team member we want to introduce you to is Rachel! Or as we know her on the farm, Napper! She’s the Manager of the Foaling Unit!

We caught up with Rachel this morning to chat about her journey with us:
“I’ve worked for Rodney before — he hired me for the Windsor Park team at Mapperley Stud, back in the day! During my first season, I helped prep So You Think, which was pretty cool considering where he is now. I did two seasons there under the Windsor banner before staying on as foaling manager and later yearling manager. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season especially seeing all the Paddington foals!”

If you’re bringing a mare to foal down at Windsor, you’ll be seeing her in action! T-8 days to go ⏰
