At the end of March, we took in dozens of cats and kittens with Ringworm from another organisation. Not long after that, we took in a group of kittens with Giardia from another person who briefly dipped their toes into the world of rescue and very quickly (and wisely!) decided that they werenโt cut out for it.
Chipping away at our existing wait list, and working to get these inmates healthy has really stretched our resources, so weโve been technically closed to new intakes.
Theyโve still been coming in though, because thereโs just some you canโt make wait โ the cat whose face had been eaten away by cancer, kittens being eaten alive by maggots, the tom cat with a rotten mouth, and the dying kitten we bought for $50 outside Kmart in the middle of the night.
None of those cats really affected our capacity, they were all immediately relieved of their suffering, so it was just our bank account that took a hit.
Petey is different though. Apart from an eye that needs removing ASAP, heโs otherwise healthy and has a real zest for life.
The incredible team at CareVets Hamilton South have managed to squeeze him into the diary for tomorrow so his life is about to change for the better.
If youโd like to play a part in changing Peteyโs life, donations are always welcome!
All financial contributions over $5 are tax deductible and we're always happy to supply you with a tax donation receipt.
Donations via card can be made on our website ( https://thepawphanage.nz/donate/ ) or if direct credit is more your style, our bank account details are: ANZ / SDL Charitable Trust Board / 01-0142-0747273-01.
