This is the page for the Saving Hope Foundation Community Support Team. Saving Hope Foundation is a registered charity: CC56091

You can find practical tips on dog care, helpful dog related advice and details of our community food drops. The Saving Hope community team has been working around Auckland for over a year to help support people with education, food and dog care advice. Our goal is to improve the lives of dogs in their homes by educating about animal welfare, and promoting desexing and its benefits. We have a series of dog care and information flyers available digitally (see the Dog Care Flyers Album in the Photos tab) or in hard copy at our community education and food distribution events where owners can come for advice and assistance. These cover the following subjects:

* Bulking Up Your Dog Food - tips and tricks
* Summer and Winter Dog Care Flyers
* Caring for your new puppy
* Caring for your pregnant dog
* Rehoming your dog
* The importance of worming regularly

We also provide educational colouring sheets for kids which can be picked up at our events

🎆🐾 FIREWORKS SEASON IS HERE – PLEASE KEEP YOUR ANIMALS SAFE! 🐾🎆

For humans, fireworks are a celebration. For our animals, they can be absolutely terrifying. Dogs, cats, birds, horses and wildlife can all panic, bolt and become injured trying to escape the noise.

Please read the flyer below and remember these important things:

🐾 KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE

🐶Keep dogs/ cats safely indoors in a warm, comfortable room.
🐶 Put their collar on and write the dogs name & your phone number with a marker pen
🐶Close windows, doors and curtains.
🐶Play music or leave the TV on to help mask the noise.
🐶Secure gates and fences. remind every family member and visitor to please shut the door and gates behind them
🐶Make sure microchip details and contact numbers are up to date.
🐶Keep a recent photo of your dog handy.

🚨 IF YOUR DOG GOES MISSING

* Act quickly ,check under the house call vets and council animal control.
* Post a photo and description on local pages.
* Let your neighbours know.
* If you spot your dog, don’t chase them. A frightened dog may run further have their favourite treats in your pocket

🐾IF YOU SEE A FRIGHTENED DOG RUNNING LOOSE

💜Take a photo ( if you can )
💜Post it on local Facebook community pages.
💜Include the exact location and time you saw the dog describe colour & size
💜Share the information to help reunite them
If you can safely approach & contain the dog please do

Please be extra vigilant over the coming week and throughout the summer months.

A few minutes of entertainment for humans can be one of the most terrifying experiences of an animal’s life.

🐕 FREE DESEXING APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE 🐕

x1 MALE booking TOMORROW Thursday 24th September

📍 South Auckland Dogs only

Drop-off: 8:00–9:00 am (please allow up to one hour while your dog is admitted).

Pick-up: Afternoon. The vet will call when your dog is ready, so please keep your phone with you.

🐶 Please only apply if you can:

* Transport your dog to and from the appointment.
* Follow all pre- and post-operative instructions.
* Ensure everyone in your household knows about the appointment and the instructions.
* Do not feed your dog the night before or on the morning of surgery. If someone accidentally feeds your dog, the anaesthetic may not be safe and the surgery may have to be cancelled.
* Have a Plan A, B and C for getting your dog to and from the appointment. Please arrange childcare, transport and any other commitments in advance. If something unexpected happens, you can book a pet Uber at your own cost.

If this appointment is missed, another dog also misses the opportunity to be des*xed.

💜 By des*xing your dog, you’re helping prevent unwanted puppies from being born and keeping more dogs out of shelters and rescues.
