๐ก๏ธ๐พ Preventing Parvo Naturally: A Guide for New Puppy Parents ๐พ๐ก๏ธ
If your pup hasnโt had all their vaccines yet, itโs important to keep them safe from parvovirus โ a deadly disease that spreads through soil, other dogs, shoes, and even water. Here's how we help boost immunity and stay safe naturally:
โ
Daily Natural Support:
๐ฅ Greek yoghurt โ great for gut health
๐ฏ Raw honey โ gentle immunity booster
๐๐ Fruits & veges โ like apples (no seeds), blueberries, pumpkin, kลซmara
๐ฟ Bone broth or goat milk โ hydrating and nourishing
Add small amounts daily to support your pupโs immune system ๐ถ
Daily 1 Tsp of Yoghurt (Natural Probiotic), 1/2 tsp of Honey and add fruits like apples (no seeds) , blueberries.
โ๏ธ Outdoor Safety:
๐ซ Never take your puppy out on rainy or wet days โ parvo thrives in damp soil
โ๏ธ Only go out on warm, dry days โ and only when your pup is alert and well
๐ Always supervise! Donโt let them eat or sniff the ground
๐โ๐ฆบ Keep your puppy away from other dogs, even if they seem healthy
๐ Home Hygiene:
๐งฝ Disinfect floors, shoes, and surfaces weekly
๐ฟ Clean bedding, toys, and bowls daily
๐ช No guests or dogs allowed inside unless fully vaccinated
Puppies arenโt truly safe from parvo until 1โ2 weeks after their final vaccine (usually 16 weeks old). Until then, natural support and clean routines can make a big difference ๐
Letโs protect our precious pups โ naturally, safely, and with lots of love ๐๐ฑ
โ
Homemade Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) for Dogs with Parvo
Basic Recipe:
1 litre of clean water (boiled and cooled if needed)
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar (or honey)
Optional: Add a pinch of baking soda (ยฝ tsp) for extra electrolyte support.
๐ถ How to Give It:
Use a syringe or dropper if the dog wonโt drink.
Give 5โ10 mL every 10โ15 minutes for small dogs or puppies.
For medium dogs: 20โ30 mL every 15 minutes.
Monitor: if vomiting starts, stop and try smaller amounts.
Keep warm and don't force the dog if they are too weak.
โ ๏ธ Important Notes:
This helps buy time, but it is not a cure for parvo.
If your dog has projectile vomiting or bloody diarrhea, fluids by mouth may not be enough โ they may need IV or subcutaneous fluids.
If your dog canโt keep any fluid down, urgent vet care is essential.
