Phoebe’s breakthrough 🎉 (a message from her foster)

When Phoebe arrived with us she was just a tiny, frightened little pup.

At night when she was put into her cozy create to sleep she was absolutely petrified and she would make a horrible sound, bite the crate and also climb it to try to escape. She did this for about a week it was very difficult to see her doing this but, we would sleep on the floor next to the crate to talk to her, soothe her and let her know she was safe!

One morning we jumped up in a big panic because we hadn't heard her all night and there she was…..just playing with her toys! She obviously she then got excited to see us though 😂

We were so proud of her milestone and now being in a crate is not a problem for her which was just aswell because she had a hernia opp and had to be strict created for 2 weeks.

There has been highs and lows in her journey but she is making such great strides now and we will be right behind her ever step of the way!

Our WAGS team fired up the bbq at Mitre 10 Onehunga yesterday and it was such a fun filled day.

We raised more awareness around our rescue, met some really awesome people and 🤞🏽added a new foster to our books too!

These 2 cuties couldn’t resist a sausage sizzle and were very happy that eating meant helping our rescue pups!

Thank you you everyone who came out to support us, we appreciate you standing behind us 🐾❤️

When Lulu first arrived at her foster home she had just been neutered. Once she healed she had her first bath…..Nakita had dealt with dogs not loving baths before but never had she had one who was screaming in fear, her heart hurt but she knew Lulu needed the bath. Slowly they got through it.

“We quickly realised the sound of the shower probably reminded her of all those scary stormy nights being left to fend for herself as a small puppy, she’s not even 1 yet and never knew a warm home or loving hands till she came into rescue care”.

On the weekend Lulu had her 5th bath in foster care, she wasn’t 100% keen but she wasn’t shaking or cowering in fear, her tail wasn’t tucked, she didn’t run to a corner. She sat on my Nakita’s feet and leaned into her. She closed her eyes while the warm water slowly washed over her and enjoyed shampoo being massaged into her body while being told what a good, brave girl she is. When she got out of the shower she sat in Nakita’s lap and nuzzled into her and let her dry her- she now understood the routine of bath time.

“As a foster these are the moments that matter the most, she trusted me and she finally learnt that having a bath is not the same as what she had associated it with before. I was so proud of her and i welled up with tears of joy”.

🍪 Little Shortbread… aka Shorty… aka one of the cutest little biscuits you’ll ever meet 🥹

Our sweet girl is still eagerly waiting to find her pawfect people and forever home. And honestly? Whoever adopts this girl is getting an absolute dream dog.

Shorty is soft and sweet just like buttery shortbread and she has the kind of nature that melts hearts instantly. She’s amazing with small children, walks beautifully on lead, loves her toys, and absolutely thrives soaking up love and attention from her humans.

She’s the kind of companion that just fits into your life. No fuss. No drama. Just love, cuddles, happy tail wags, and outdoor playtime with her favourite people 💛

🐾 Hi I’m Shorty and I’m looking for a foster home 🐾

Right now I just need somewhere safe to land while I wait for my forever family. I don’t need fancy things just a soft place to sleep, some patience, meals, and someone who’ll tell me I’m a good dog (even if I’m still learning).

Fostering means giving dogs like me a chance. A chance to decompress, to learn what a home feels like, and to show everyone who we really are in a stable and loving environment. WAGS rescue will provide everything I need + my vet care.

You won’t be saying yes forever.
You’ll just be saying yes for now.
And for dogs like me… that can change everything ❤️
