🌡️Heat Stress Prevention Measures for Poultry During Hot Weather 🐔

With periods of hot weather increasing the risk of heat stress in poultry, especially birds at advanced age and close to slaughter, it is essential that proactive measures are taken to protect bird welfare and reduce losses.

✅ Key actions:
• Where possible, catch birds only at night or early morning
• Reduce crate stocking density during transport
• Provide electrolytes before, during, and after hot periods
• Ensure fans and ventilation are fully working and humidity is reduced
• Avoid disturbing birds during the hottest part of the day
• Keep pop holes open for extra airflow
• Use misting systems carefully to avoid increasing humidity

Good ventilation and careful management are essential during hot weather. Contact your vet for further advice if needed.

A huge thank you to all the organisers and everyone who stopped by to chat and connect with us. You helped make this year’s P&P a great success.
