FOUND SAFE AND WELL BACK HOME 🙂 THANKYOU SO MUCH

We need your help!!

Unfortunately we have had a naughty little African Grey get past us this afternoon and straight out the front door. It is rung, has obvious plumage due to its age and should be approachable by anyone as it's so friendly.

These guys can travel miles, whilst we are hoping it won't have gone far with it being so young we still know they can travel so far.

Ring this number 07933566985

Anyone spots an African Grey give us a call or drop us an inbox! Please share this post.

Meet the gorgeous Willow, this week’s superstar at Dogwood Referrals! 💖

Willow had a rare condition called Pes Varus, causing her leg to bend inward, something we occasionally see in dachshunds 🐶.

Working with Fusion Implants, we used custom-made guides to plan and perform surgery that straightened her leg with precision.
She’s now healing brilliantly and already back to her cheeky self! 💪💕

✨ Swipe to see her transformation!

Leave Willow some love in the comments!

Everybody meet our staff pet Nessa 🥰

Nessa is a 13 year old Shar Pei x Whippet and belongs to our lovely Veterinary Surgeon, Beth 😊

Nessa was brought in for a dental procedure this week as even though she has always had great teeth, at her older age, she needed a canine and and incisor extracting 🦷

With our geriatric patients coming in for an anaesthetic, we always recommend pre-anaesthetic bloods to check organ functions prior.

In this case, Nessa did show to have elevated kidney values meaning that her kidneys are struggling a little bit in her older age 🙁. With this knowledge, we could tailor the anaesthetic around this and we can now run further tests to stage the kidney disease to ensure we slow down any deteriorations going forward.

Pre-anaesthetic blood tests are included in our dental package and are always offered as an optional extra before any procedures that are carried out under anaesthetic.

Nessa has made a fabulous recovery from her anaesthetic and will continue to have her bloods monitored quarterly! ❤️

❤️ Braveheart Award for Wade ❤️

The lovely Wade was brought to us with a tail issue. He has a condition called Happy Tail! He wagged his tail too much and caused trauma to the end of it which Wade was recieving treatment for. Unfortunatley, his sister accidently stood on his tail and damaged it further meaning Wade hade to have 1 third of his tail amputated.

Throughout his treatment, Wade has been a very good and still very happy, waggy boy. He has been a star patient and the staff have loved seeing him in clinic getting especially excited if he was in their list to see!

We hope Wade can continue to wag the rest of his tail happily and that his certificate has pride of place on the fridge! We look forward to seeing him at his check ups 🥰

Our first grass seed of the season!

Poor Suzie was brought to us suffering with a sore ear very suddenly after running through some long grass. She was shaking her head and holding it to the side and was visibly uncomfortable.

Our vet Beth took a look and saw there was a grass seed deep in her ear and very quickly managed to remove it. This isn't always the case however, especially if the seeds manage to make their way deeper which could mean sedation is required. Suzie was very brave and stood still while Beth used some long forceps to remove the seed.

Grass seeds can become embeded in your dogs paws, between the toes, in the ears, in the eyes and the nose. It is especially important to check your dogs if they have been running through long grass or have long coats.

Signs to look out for are things such as excessively licking at paws, sudden head shaking or sudden pain in the eyes. If you notice any of these things after walking your dog, get in touch with your vet ASAP.

❗️Swan and Cygnets update ❗️

After a few calls this morning from concerned members of the public regarding the swans and cygnets wandering in the road, our nurses Lisa and Faye went and collected mum and 4 cygnets (dad wasn't around at this point). They were brought back to the practice for a health check as mum was walking with a slight limp. Our vet Beth checked over mum and found she had a slight cut to her foot but otherwise in good health.
Mum and babies have been released back to the pond on Carr Lane 😊
