🌡How much do you know about cooling horses? There is a lot of wrong information out there.

💦The newest science says the key is continuous application of water to the whole of the horses' body.

❌You do not need to scrape water off before applying more cold water - this only makes the cooling process slower

❌You do not need to focus on particular body parts - just make sure your cover every part of their body

❌Do not restrict access to drinking water until they are cool - hydration is key to cooling and letting them drink should be part of the cooling process

💦Keep applying water until it is running off the horse's body cold. You can add ice to the water to bring the temperature down quicker

💦Consider using fans in stables if it is very still and hot. You can consider giving horses a mash to help them rehydrate after exercising in the heat, and ensure you are feeding electrolytes.
