Every year, we care for around 300 cats and dogs who are lost, abandoned, neglected, unwanted or given up because their owners can no longer care for them. If you would like to adopt a cat or dog, our current animals for adoption, and more information on the process, is available on our website. We rely on the generosity of our supporters and local community to keep our doors open to the hundreds

of animals who need our help. You can find out about the different ways to support us in the 'Get Involved' section on our website. Our middle-aged gentleman Camel is as sweet and courteous as can be and we all love his gentle, laid-back ways. He's looking for a home where he is the only pet and his new family has plenty of time for cuddles and companionship. If there are teenagers about who can supply a little extra fuss too, then great. We will miss Camel but we would love to see him rehomed. ☕Coffee Shop & Sale this Saturday! ☕

Here's Ruby to remind you that it's our monthly Coffee Shop & Sale this Saturday (6th September). 🐈🐾

Come along to our Centre in Huncote between 10am and 1pm and make sure you don't miss out on our fantastic bargains! There will be clothes, shoes, toys, bric-a-brac, linens, in fact if you think of something, we'll usually have it!

Once you've done all that shopping, you can sit down, have a natter, a cuppa and a bite to eat. 🍰☕ You can bring your four-legged friend too, they will be made very welcome. 🐾🐾

Money raised at events like these really does make a huge difference to animals like Ruby, ensuring we can care for her until the right home can be found. We do hope you can come and support us. 🐱🐶

🅿️We do have two car parks available for our Coffee Shop events, one through our main gates in front of reception and the other through the first set of gates if travelling from Huncote/last set of gates if travelling from the opposite direction. We'll also have staff on hand to direct you, please avoid parking on the road outside the Centre.

It's just three weeks until our Family Fun Day and we've been busy polishing the trophy and sorting out the rosettes! 🐶

It's going to be a pawsome afternoon out! Please come along and support us at Huncote Sports & Social Club, LE9 7TF on Sunday 21st September from 12pm to 4pm.

Our fun dog show starts at 1pm, but you can register from 12pm.
There are seven rounds to enter, £2.50 per round:
🐶 Golden Oldie (8+)
🐶 Waggiest Tail
🐶 Best Youngers (3 and under)
🐶 Best Female
🐶 Best Male
🐶Best Rescue
🐶 All comers (any dog)
The winner of each round will be invited to enter Best In Show.

🐈Final call for your pets to be stars in our book!🐶

To celebrate our big birthday next year, we're publishing a book charting the fascinating history of L.A.A.🎉 The book, Telling More Tails, will be full of local history, photos and heartwarming tales about the animals and people who have made L.A.A. truly special over the years. 🐱🐶

We're running a Crowdfunder where adopters, and other local cat and dog lovers, can have their pet's name and photo included in the book. All those who pledge will also receive a copy of the book to treasure.

The book, which will be available just in time for Christmas, will be sold at the Centre and online to raise funds for our current and future animals.

Become a volunteer at our lovely Charity shops 😀

Our two on site Charity shops are becoming more and more popular and we'd love to extend the opening hours, but to do that we need your help. 🤞

We're ready to open the shops on Mondays and extend the opening hours Tuesday to Fridays until 3.30pm but we need more volunteers.

You'd be working in one of the two shops at our Centre in Huncote, serving customers and using a till and card machine. It would be great if you had experience, but don't worry if not as full training will be provided.

If you have a few hours a week to spare we're looking to cover the following shifts: Mondays 10am to 12pm, 12pm-2pm and 2pm to 3.30pm and on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we need volunteers to cover the 2pm-3.30pm shift.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to learn new skills, make new friends and you'll be helping to raise vital funds to help us to continue caring for cats and dogs in need.🐱🐶

As well as finding out about the work we do, Dr Luke Evans - for Hinckley and Bosworth got to have cuddles with the lovely Camel when he visited the Centre.🐶

Before heading off on a tour of the Centre, Dr Evans chatted with some of the team about the work of the Charity, our links to the community and our Community Pet Support Scheme. The Scheme, which offers free practical pet care to vulnerable people and their pets, operates in three districts of Leicestershire including Hinckley and Bosworth.

We want to say a huge thank you to Dr Evans for taking the time to come and visit us and find out more about the work we do.🐶🐱

🌞We love seeing your holiday snaps 🏖

Scout spent 15 months at the Centre before finding his forever home a few weeks ago. 🥰 Since then his paws haven't touched the ground - his biggest adventure has been going on holiday to Cornwall.

It really makes our hearts so happy, seeing former residents living their best lives. We hope you've all had a lovely summer and would love to see your photos, even if it's a staycation in the garden - that probably applies to our feline friends! 🐱

We're getting excited! It's only four weeks until our Family Fun Day and Dog Show! 🐶 Make sure you pop Sunday 21st September in your diary!

It's going to be a pawsome afternoon out! As well as our fun dog show and 'have-a-go' dog agility course there will be a full bar, refreshments, ice cream van, face painter, stalls, games, raffle and much more.

We’ll be holding the event just down the road from our Centre at Huncote Sports & Social Club, LE9 7TF. The event opens from 12pm to 4pm and is just £2 for adults and children, dogs and parking are free.

Our fun dog show starts at 1pm, but you can register your four-legged friend from 12pm. Friendly dogs are welcome, whether they’re pedigree or crossbreed, small or large, pup or senior, or somewhere in between. We hope to see lots of our former residents, especially in the Best Rescue category! It's just £2.50 to enter per round and there are rosettes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and a trophy for Best In Show! 🐶

We really hope to see you there, all money raised helps us to care for cats and dogs in need. 🐶🐱

It's our very own comedy double-act Nile and Buffy😂 We love watching these two play together, they get up to all sorts! Nile really does love having a doggy companion, it really helps build his confidence.

🐶Calling all SBT lovers - help needed to find this gorgeous girl a home🥰

Everyone at the Centre can't believe that Guiness hasn't had a single interest since she came to L.A.A. in May. 😢 She really is a sweetheart and just wants cuddles, fuss and to be around people. 🥰

She has a very playful side and loves to carry her toys around with her and burn off some energy with her ball. She loves having a chat and is a fast runner and quick walker! She does need to be the only pet (she has a very high prey drive especially around cats) but could live with teenage children.

UPDATE - Thank you so much for all your help, we have been overwhelmed by the response.❤ We are still going through the applications, but Zak has got a meet and greet booked in with a potential new family.🤞

🐶There must be someone out there that can give this gentle loving boy a home🐶

Zak is a firm favorite with staff and volunteers who love his sweet nature and his playfulness. 🥰 As an older gentleman (he's 10) he may be looking for a retirement home, but he reverts back to being a puppy when playing with his toys!

All he wants are his homely comforts and being around people. He'd be happy with short potters or garden exercise.
