Leicester Animal Aid

Leicester Animal Aid Founded in 1956, we are a rehoming centre based in Huncote. Loving cats and dogs today for those who will love them tomorrow. ๐Ÿพ
(268)

Every year, we care for around 300 cats and dogs who are lost, abandoned, neglected, unwanted or given up because their owners can no longer care for them. If you would like to adopt a cat or dog, our current animals for adoption, and more information on the process, is available on our website. If you need to rehome your cat or dog please call the Centre. We rely on the generosity of our supporte

rs and local community to keep our doors open to the hundreds of animals who need our help. You can find out about the different ways to support us in the 'Get Involved' section on our website. You can also donate directly to L.A.A. through this page, just click on the Donate button. Thank you for your support, for liking, sharing and commenting on our posts and helping to get our work out there.

Wow, what an amazing afternoon we had yesterday and it didn't rain! ๐Ÿถ

It was so heartwarming in our 70th year to welcome more than 40 dogs adopted from Leicester Animal Aid to our doggy reunion parade, hear their stories and to see them wearing their special rosettes with pride. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿถ

The fun dog show had a brilliant turn-out with 118 entries into the seven different dog show classes and young handler round. ๐Ÿถ The judges had such a difficult job deciding on 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and there were so many dogs they just wanted to take home!

The event wouldn't have been possible without our fantastic volunteers and staff, who did everything from setting up, making cakes, serving refreshments, parking, welcoming people on the gate, dog show registration, agility and everything else in between! Thank you you're all amazing. A special thank you goes to our fantastic judges - L.A.A. Ambassador, , Chelsea Read and Sue Williamson and to everyone who entered. You were all winners! ๐Ÿ†

Massive thanks must also go to Wilson Browne Solicitors for sponsoring the dog show and Huncote Sports and Social Club for being the perfect hosts.

Thank you to each and every one of you who supported us in any way to make this year's event a massive success. It means so much to us and the animals that we've helped and will continue to help thanks to your generosity. ๐Ÿถ

๐Ÿพ๐ŸพPaws crossed for Eric and Ernie in the BBC Make A Difference awards.๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•

Loveable duo, Eric and Ernie (not forgetting their human Shane!) do so much educating children about dog safety including our K9 Kids courses. We thought their work should be recognised and nominated them and they are now finalists in their category!

The BBC came along to find out more and to see them in action. Huge shout-out to some of our amazing Huncote Hound Club members who helped out with the filming. I'm sure you'll agree they are all super-stars.

We are running a K9 Kids workshop in October and you can find out more and book a free place https://tinyurl.com/mwvx6att

Well Hello there! We have a polite request .. we're running a little low on tins of wet Chappie here at L.A.A. and we were hoping that some of our kind supporters might help us out. We use Chappie, in particular, to help new dogs settle as it tends to be gentle on their tummies. Donations can be dropped off at the Centre here in Huncote or kind supporters can use our Amazon Wishlist here https://tinyurl.com/5n7eu24h to have items sent to us directly. Pirelli says Thank you! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿคžโค

We want to give a big shout out to the kind folks over at The Navigation inn, Kilby bridge for organising a fundraiser for us this coming weekend. If you're planning on coming to our event on Sunday, why not pop over there afterwards, or on bank holiday Monday, for a post dog show pint?! It's a lovely location and there will be fun and games over the bank holiday. Thanks so much to all involved. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑโ˜€๐Ÿน๐Ÿบ

*Apologises to all visitors*

Our Cattery has sadly had to close early today so visitors can not have a look around. We are still taking messages by phone and people can apply online and the Cattery team can follow up when they are back in.

Happy ๐ŸถOur handsome boy, Bentley, has popped on to remind you all to make your four-legged friend feel extra special today (we know it's hard as for most of us every day is National Dog Day ๐Ÿ˜‚).

So go on, take them for their favourite walk, have extra snuggles on the sofa or give them an extra treat. ๐Ÿถ

Hello there. Just lately our Cattery has seen a surge in un-neutered cats being surrendered or brought in because they have been abandoned or found straying. This includes dear Arizona who is pregnant at just 5 months old. We neuter cats and dogs, or provide neutering vouchers for those that go home before neutering can be arranged. But the message about responsible cat neutering, in particular, seems not to be hitting home. Here is a petition https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/777945 If you share our concerns, please consider signing or sharing it. Thank you.
You can read more abut the benefits of pet neutering here https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/general/neutering
