Nestled on the northern outskirts of Desford village in Leicestershire, Tropical Birdland is a 6.5-acre sanctuary for Parrots and exotic birds. Housing over 250 feathery residents, every square inch has been devoted to giving a home to some of the most alluring and captivating species from around the world.

- We are an outdoor attraction. Please make sure to plan and prepare for your visit accordingly for the weather and temperature over summer months.
- We are open everyday. In the event of unexpected closures, we will notify on our social media.
- Last Entry is 4pm. After this time we will not admit any more visitors. Please ensure you arrive before 4pm to avoid disappointment.

When you're filling up the Kea pond and you have to keep them busy and beaks off the hose! 💧

Keas are one of the most intelligent residents at Tropical Birdland and, like all parrots, love to get up to mischief!
Chewing is normal behaviour for all parrots and parrots are naturally curious creatures. They explore the world with their beaks!
It's important to give them plenty to keep their beak busy!

Did you know?
Mork is one of the most endangered species living at Tropical Birdland.
Blue Throated Macaws are listed as Critically Endangered in the wild with estimated 200-300 potential breeding birds left in the wild.
Their main threats in the wild include habitat loss and hunting/trapping.

We are expecting an heatwave this Bank Holiday Monday!

We ask visitors to be patient and understanding with our Birds and Team during this hot weather as we work hard to keep the birds cool and hydrated throughout the day 💧
Some birds may need more regular breaks in between handling during the hot weather.

We thank you for your cooperation!

We will be open as normal this weekend and Bank Holiday.
Open 10am
Last Entry 4pm
Closing 5:30pm

There is currently no prebooking at this time.
Tickets purchased on arrival.

- During Bank Holiday we are expecting to be very busy. Phone lines will be busy and may not all be answered. For Non urgent enquiries, please wait until after the Bank Holiday.
