Happy Halloween 🎃🦇

We are wishing you and your pet(s) a happy and safe Halloween!
If you have a nervous pet, there are steps you can take for this evenings festivities!
👻Put a signs on your door alerting people not to knock as you have a nervous pet.
👻Use calming sprays or plug ins to help to keep your pet relaxed.
👻Do not dress up your pet, this will likely add to their stress.
👻Close the curtains and create a calm space for your pet.
👻use toys and treats such as a stuffed Kong, to distract from stressors.
👻Chocolate and some sweets are toxic for dogs and cats, keep your Halloween treats in a safe place.

If your pet has ingested some toxic treats, contact your vet practice ASAP!

Senior Shout out ! 🤩

Sam was a very good boy for his blood sampling, and received lots of tasty treats as a reward!
Sam had a Senior wellness blood test, which throughout October and November is 50% off! 💉
As out pets age, the likelihood of developing health conditions is increased. In some cases, such as Chronic kidney disease, by the time they are showing clinical signs, the disease process has advanced and treatment may not be as effective. Early detection is the best advantage your pet can have when treating any condition!

Amy may look like she is doing her best pirate impression 🏴‍☠️ but she is actually testing Urine Specific Gravity (USG).

USG tests the concentration of urine. A refractometer is used to compare the concentration of urine compared to distilled water.

Urine concentration can give us useful information on kidney function. When the kidneys are functioning effectively, they are able to reabsorb water into the body and filter out unwanted molecules to be excreted in urine. If urine is very dilute, it suggests that the kidneys are not functioning to their full capability!

Throughout October and November, for senior pets, we are offering a free USG and urine dipstick test, as well as 50% off a wellness blood test.
If you are a member of our pet health plan, your pet gets a free urine test and wellness blood test annually!

How handsome is this little old man 😍

Bertie visited us recently for a dental procedure; this involved a General Anaesthetic to scale and probe the teeth and extract those that required removal.
Dental disease is very common in pets, especially as they age. However, this should not be normalised and ignored. Dental disease can be extremely painful, and can lead to complications such as anorexia, serious infection and even organ damage!

Bertie was such a good boy throughout his visit and enjoyed lots of attention from the team! He left the practice with some new pearly whites and fresh breath✨
