Medivet Darlington

Medivet Darlington Stanhope Park Vets are part of the Medivet Group, who's mission is to provide exceptional care for you and your pet whenever you need it.
(237)

We have 2 branches to provide the Darlington area with a comprehensive range of services for pets. We may have 2 practices, but we have 1 aim: providing your pet with everything they need to live a longer, healthier and happier life. At Stanhope Park Vets our exceptionally high standards can be seen consistently throughout our practices. The biggest practice is based on Stanhope Road in Darlington

and is an accredited hospital which can accommodate all types of major surgery. Our Middleton-St-George clinic has been providing clients with consultations and preventative treatments for many years now, and we have recently undertaken major renovation work at this surgery, allowing us to extend our services to include outpatient surgical procedures, without the need to transport your pet to our Darlington Clinic. This expansion work has also seen improvements to our waiting and consulting areas, as well as the creation of a dedicated parking area in the current grounds.

🐢 You will be pleased to know we now offer Keyhole spays (Laparoscopic spays) for dogs 1 - 7 years old, weighing between 8-30kg πŸŽ‰πŸΆ

Keyhole surgery uses a minimally invasive technique which means its less painful, and most dogs are back to their normal selves a lot quicker. πŸ₯³ This also means smaller wounds which lowers the risk of post operative complications. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

🌟 Thank you Lyra, Clemmie, Amber and Millie for being amazing little super stars for their recent keyhole spays 🌟

We would like to take a moment to honour Helen Geldard, who sadly passed away on Sunday 25th May 2026. Many knew her as Mrs G, our former practice manager. Helen and her late husband, Mr Geldard, previously owned Stanhope Park for many years, working alongside their daughter Charlotte, as Head veterinary nurse. Helen had been a dedicated staff member for over 40 years before retiring in March 2023.

Helen was loved by many, including clients, patients, and most of all, the staff.
Throughout her career, she helped in countless aspects of the practice, supporting reception, nurses, vets, and animal charities. She inspired and taught us, she was the heart of the team, and made an impact on so many lives.

We will miss you greatly and feel incredibly proud to have worked alongside you throughout our careers.
Our thoughts are with your family and friends.

Thank you Mrs G x

πŸ’š Following on with Nurse Awareness Month with Laura- RVN πŸ’š

"I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2004 from Houghall College in Durham, but I have been nursing since 1999. I joined the team in April 2011. I like all aspects of nursing but have a special interest in surgical nursing and enjoy caring for the inpatients. When I’m not at work my little girl and boy keep me busy. We are looking forward to getting them lots of pets when they are older."

πŸ’š On this day of Mays Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month is Amber - RVN πŸ’š

"Hi I'm Amber, I started working with the team in 2012 as a receptionist whilst studying Animal Management. I then went on to work as an Auxiliary Nurse before becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
I have always wanted to work with animals and have grown up with lots of weird and wonderful pets. You may see my sidekick, Rodney, a crazy cocker spaniel as he comes to work with me everyday."

πŸ’œ Continuing Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month with Laura who is our student veterinary nurse (SVN) πŸ’œ

"Hi I'm Laura, I joined the team in 2019 as a patient care assistant before progressing into my training as a student veterinary nurse. After two years of study, I am now close to qualifying as a registered veterinary nurse, and I’m excited to continue developing my skills, particularly in anaesthesia and emergency care. Outside of work, I love getting outdoors with my two lively cocker spaniels and my rescue Frenchie, who keep life wonderfully chaotic."

πŸ’š Lisa probably doesnt need an introduction, shes been an RVN with the practice for nearly 25 years πŸ™€πŸ’š

"Hi im Lisa, after a career change, I started working in a mixed veterinary practice in 1996 on a voluntary basis, which led to permanent employment a year later. I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in 2000 and joined Medivet Darlington Stanhope Road in November 2002.

I really love my job, which requires compassion, empathy and resilience, and I am proud to be part of such an amazing and dedicated team. I enjoy running nurse consultation clinics and would like to further develop my knowledge in this area to help support patients with chronic health conditions and ongoing patient care.

I am also passionate about supporting younger members of staff, helping them to develop their confidence, skills and knowledge within veterinary nursing.

Outside of work, I have a spaniel cross called Woody, who has a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde personality! I hand-reared him after he was found dumped in a rubbish bin."

"Hi my name is Aiyana and I am a Patient Care Assistant here at Medivet. I joined in April 2025 as a Receptionist after studying Animal Management, and have since progressed to my current role. 🩢 Who are our nurses in grey? They're our patient care assistants (PCA) also known as auxiliary nurses. PCA's are incredibly valuable to our nursing team and can usually be found comforting patients. The first PCA to introduce is Charlotte 🩢

"Hello, my name is Charlotte, I have worked here since November 2023 as a patient care assistant and have learned a lot so far. I would love to progress to do my Veterinary Nurse training in the future. In my spare time I enjoy walking my Labrador Copper."

πŸ’š Continuing Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month with Kathryn RVN πŸ’š

"Hi I'm Kathryn, I have worked at Medivet Darlington since 2017, starting off as a receptionist then auxiliary nurse before becoming a registered veterinary nurse. I have a keen interest in nursing weight clinics and dental work including scaling, polishing and dental radiology. I am completing my training to become a clinical coach and look forward to training the next fabulous veterinary nurses! I have a huge weakness for German shepherds, so if there is a shepherd in the practice you best assume I will be there! When I’m not at work my 2 children keep me busy and on my toes!"
