A Greener Practice 💚🌿

Here at Broad Lane Vets we’re passionate about the environment! From a very active workplace recycle and swap group, to growing our own herbs for our rabbit and guinea pig inpatients, our aim is to be as sustainable as possible. We even have a dedicated ‘green team’ who are always looking at ways we can continue to improve and develop!

Our waiting rooms currently have some fantastic display boards detailing all the things we do, have you had chance to see them yet?

💚🌿How could you help us be even better?

🌿 Please return unused and out of date medications to us for correct disposal, especially those containing antibiotics. Together we can reduce ecotoxicty and anti-microbial resistance.
🌿 Please bring plastic medication pots to medication review appointments so these can be refilled where appropriate.

💚Do you have any green suggestions you think we could implement? We’d love to hear your ideas!

We are resharing our post about our lovely Antonio! We have had zero interest in him which is such a shame as he is the most loving boy! All we ask is that he has lots of space to roam either over fields or a large garden but we think he would love to come in for some cuddles and fuss too!

If you are interested in rehoming him, please call the reception team on 02476464789, or email us at [email protected] to request a stray interest application form to complete, for the attention of Maggi Clancy RVN and Alice Young RVN

Thank you! 🐈

Hi 👋

My name is Antonio, I'm roughly 7 years old and I'm looking for a nice home to call my own.
I arrived at Broad Lane after being found with wounds to my face and my legs, as you can see my fur has been shaved to treat my wounds which are now healing nicely!
I am a big boy who loves a fuss but would still benefit with having lots of outdoor time, so access to a nice garden or even some fields is essential for me.

Things about me:
🩵 I love a fuss and a warm lap
🩵 I LOVE my food
🩵 I might be able to live with an adult female cat
🩵 I can live in a home with older children

If you are interested in rehoming me, please call the reception team on 02476464789, or email us at [email protected] to request a stray interest application form to complete, for the attention of Maggi Clancy RVN.

Thank you,
Antonio 🐈

Grass Seed Awareness 💚🌾

With the prolonged spell of warm, dry weather we are seeing a higher than normal amount of grass seed related issues. The team have been very busy removing over 15 grass seeds this week alone! They’ve been found in ears and eyes, up noses and between toes 🐾 ! These small but pesky seeds can be a real nuisance and without prompt treatment they can cause all sorts of problems!

Common signs your canine or feline friend could be struggling with a grass seed include:
💚 Sudden head shaking and ear scratching
💚 Excessive paw licking and chewing
💚 Eye squinting and swelling
💚 Repeated sneezing or nasal discharge

Grass seeds are very good at getting themselves in all the wrong places so take extra care through long grass. We recommend brushing through long coats and checking paws (they particularly like getting between toes) for these seeds when getting in from walks this summer. It’s also helpful to keep long fur on ears and paws short - making it harder for them to get stuck and them easier to spot!

Good morning everyone
We just wanted to make you aware you may need to give a little extra time if travelling to our Broad Lane site.
We have roadworks on Broad Lane, and this morning the Banner Lane end is closed.
If signage says access to frontages you can still reach us.
It appears to be a rolling closure, to replace underground pipework, so we are guessing things will change daily.

**REHOMED**
Hi 👋🏻

My name Frank, I’m roughly 12 weeks old and I’m looking for my forever home. The Broad Lane team don’t know much about my history but I am a healthy boy who was found wandering on a very busy road!

I’m currently being fostered by one of the vets here, I love being able to stretch my legs and explore everything!

Things about me:
💙 I love a fuss
💙 I love to explore and hide
💙 I like my toys
💙 I like my cat naps
❤️I can not live with other pets as I am not a fan of other cats or dogs so my only request is to be treated like a king 👑

If you are interested in rehoming me, please call the reception team on 02476 464789, or email us at [email protected] to request a stray interest application form to complete, for the attention of Alice Young RVN and Maggi Clancy RVN.

Thank you,
Frank 🐈
