💚 Why Being Independent Matters - The Broad Lane Vets Story 💚

At Broad Lane Vets, independence isn’t just a label - it’s the heart of who we are.

Founded in 1969 by Roy Hands, and later joined by his son Roger (a familiar face to many of you!), our practice has always been locally owned and deeply rooted in the community. In 2008, Elly took the reins solo, and in 2021, Ali and Aidín joined her to continue building on our legacy of compassionate care.

So what does being independent mean for you and your pets?

🐾 Our partners are hands-on, working vets - right there in the consult rooms, not just behind the scenes.
🐾 Decisions are made by people who know your pets, your concerns, and your community.
🐾 We’re not driven by corporate targets - we’re driven by love for animals and loyalty to our clients.
🐾 Every member of our team is valued, and every pet is treated like family.

Being independent means we get to choose to put care first. And that’s exactly what we do - every single day. 💚

A Greener Practice 💚🌿

Here at Broad Lane Vets we’re passionate about the environment! From a very active workplace recycle and swap group, to growing our own herbs for our rabbit and guinea pig inpatients, our aim is to be as sustainable as possible. We even have a dedicated ‘green team’ who are always looking at ways we can continue to improve and develop!

Our waiting rooms currently have some fantastic display boards detailing all the things we do, have you had chance to see them yet?

💚🌿How could you help us be even better?

🌿 Please return unused and out of date medications to us for correct disposal, especially those containing antibiotics. Together we can reduce ecotoxicty and anti-microbial resistance.
🌿 Please bring plastic medication pots to medication review appointments so these can be refilled where appropriate.

💚Do you have any green suggestions you think we could implement? We’d love to hear your ideas!

We are resharing our post about our lovely Antonio! We have had zero interest in him which is such a shame as he is the most loving boy! All we ask is that he has lots of space to roam either over fields or a large garden but we think he would love to come in for some cuddles and fuss too!

If you are interested in rehoming him, please call the reception team on 02476464789, or email us at [email protected] to request a stray interest application form to complete, for the attention of Maggi Clancy RVN and Alice Young RVN

Thank you! 🐈
