Another fabulous day of dressage for Team Avon staff and liveries yesterday! 💫

We are so lucky to have The Avon Centre Unaffiliated Winter Dressage Series on site, as it’s a great way for riders and horses to get some experience and practice in. We are super proud of everyone, especially our Centre ponies: Samson & Caya!

Wow - what a fabulous day we had yesterday at our In-House Clear Round Christmas Show Jumping! We are so proud of all our ARC & RDA riders, and our herd of super horses and ponies ❤️💫

The atmosphere was amazing, and it was so wonderful to see everyone be proud of what they achieved, whether that was giving show jumping a go for the very first time, riding a new horse, or stepping up a height and absolutely smashing it! It was brilliant to see so many of our Avon RDA Group riders taking part also - a true example of how important and encouraging inclusion is for all!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended, we couldn’t be more proud of all of you. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas break! 🎄

It’s been a very exciting week for our newly arrived pair of Ginger Ninjas - 13.2hh Tango & 16.1hh Toby!

Both are now finished with their 2 week isolation, have had their first few rides with staff this week, and have been total superstars rising to every new task asked of them 💫

Tango has shown off his beautiful paces and popped his first couple of fences, with lots of promising potential and a super genuine and willing attitude. Cat & Isa have very quickly developed a soft spot for him this week!

Toby has made both Cat & Leah beam huge smiles with his super comfortable, established, and floaty paces, and his wonderfully kind and gentle temperament. He has been so polite and rideable, especially considering Cat’s legs barely came past his saddle! 😆

We are so thrilled with how well both boys have settled in, and are very excited to see their future with us at the Centre ☺️

Please be aware when travelling to the Centre today - no access at the moment via the Lawrence Weston approach, best to approach via Westbury-on-Trym and Henbury.

⚠️ Restricted Access to the Centre via Car ⚠️

There has unfortunately been an RTC on Kings Weston Road, just outside the Centre this morning. Traffic is completely held from the Lawrence Weston end, there is some access open from the Henbury end but congestion is building.

Please be aware that access to the Centre via vehicle is therefore currently difficult, and may become even more restricted over the next few hours.

Please give the Centre a call on 0117 9590266 if you are delayed for your session today.

Super proud of our staff and liveries today for putting their best hoof forward for The Avon Centre’s Winter Dressage Series! ✨

We are so sad to bring you this update on our Bertie Boy. Please feel free to share happy memories and photos of Bertie in the comments if you would like to ❤️

With huge sadness, we have to share some very sad news with you all.

Devastatingly, we had to let our Bertie cross over rainbow bridge yesterday evening, after another sudden bout of colic. There was no viable option for him this time, and we had to make the hardest call.

You all know how much strength Bertie showed to recover against the odds when he first had to have colic surgery back in April. He will be remembered for his resilience and determination; in addition to his incredible, patient, loving, nature both in the stable and under saddle. Bertie was a true Avon Legend, and everyone at The Centre owes him more than we can put into words. We will feel his absence on the yard hugely, and will very much miss him singing beautifully for his haynet every morning.

Bertie taught hundreds of children and adults to ride and has given so many the most wonderful memories over the years. At almost 20 years old, and having given almost 14 years of service to everyone at the Centre, it was his time to very deservedly rest.

New herd members Samson & Caya, plus Edward, Mickey and Luna had a fabulous time in a staff jump session recently! 🚀

🖤 Samson showed us that he is a true pocket rocket, making light work of the oxer, tucking his little knees up beautifully
💛 Caya, who has only been with us for a month, blew us away with her natural technique and balance, rising to every question asked of her with ease and care.
🤎 Edward did a fabulous job staying balanced and rhythmical, jumping with lovely technique and getting his leg changes bang on
🤍 Mickey really enjoyed getting his turbo on, and having the impulsion to take some longer strides out to fences
🩶 Luna was in true Turbo Cob mode, and worked really well on improving her sit and impulsion behind

We are so proud of all our horses, and love giving them a variety of work so that they enjoy their job and can give the best experiences to our riders! 😊
