Northern Animal Rescue Alliance

Northern Animal Rescue Alliance NARA is a volunteer run, foster home based rescue located in Terrace BC. To apply to become a foster home please contact us at [email protected]

We are a completely volunteer run home-based rescue, we have no building to hold animals in our care. We are advocates for abused, neglected and abandoned animals in the community of Terrace and surrounding area. Our mission is to provide means to a better life for all animals that come into our care, whether that means providing rescue placement, short-term care, rehabilitation for illness and in

jury or providing sanctuary for the old and un-adoptable. We remain accountable for the animals in our care for the entirety of their lives; ensuring they are provided with everything necessary to live a happy healthy life. We promote the responsible humane treatment of all pets which includes Spay and Neuter.

We are thankful for the ongoing support of the Terrace Professional Firefighters Local 2685! In order to do the work that we do it takes a village and we are very grateful for our amazing community who are as passionate about animal welfare as we are ♥️🎄😽👨‍🚒

As part of our Season of Giving, Terrace Firefighters Local 2685 were proud to make another annual donation to NARA, a local animal rescue organization dedicated to protecting, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need.

We are grateful for the important work they do in our community and happy to support their efforts this holiday season.

Meet Maggie!

Maggie was part of the 15+ cats abandoned in Terrace, turned out on the streets to fend for themselves, until neighbours started feeding them all.

Maggie is an athletic, spayed young female. She’s playful, and will play with her people or with toys on her own. She’s been super clean with her litterbox, but a high sided one, or a tote is best as she’s very enthusiastic with her digging! She prefers kibble to wet food.

Maggie had a very serious internal parasite issue, which required hospitalization, but she is now fully recovered, spayed & vaccinated and ready for a loving home. She is a fierce hunter; no mouse is safe if Maggie is nearby! She’s sweet, affectionate, and purrs away when you pick her up, but is not really cuddly, she’s probably been knocked about a bit in her past as she can be ‘hand shy’ around her head and tail. She should be fine with other cats, with gentle introduction – but has not been tested with dogs and kids.

The adoption fee for cats fixed while in the care of NARA is $250. If you’ve already been approved to adopt through NARA, please reach out by Messenger or email so we can connect you with the foster. To apply, visit our website and complete an application form. Please note, all adopters must have a current vet and adoptions are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Maggie really deserves a loving home after such a difficult start to life – could you be a match? She’s located in a foster home just outside Terrace – visits prior to adoption are welcomed.

HAPPY NEWS! JazzPurr found her dream home today!!

Looking for a special home for our special Jazzy. Here's her story:

JazzPurr is a spayed adult female who has had a very traumatic couple of years. She’s looking for, ideally, a single senior who she can adore and who will adore her back.

She’s had a rough time with other cats and coyotes or foxes attacking her, plus a massive and stressful change within her family home. This combination has left her with a form of kitty PTSD which we have been working with and, we believe, we have found the solutions to her issues. After the attacks and subsequent painful injuries, she needs to be indoors only and an only pet. She is so affectionate and snuggly, her new person must love cats and expect to be slept on, or snuggled next to.

When left alone, she’ll seek out a ‘safe place’, which maybe under your bed or in a closet. She’ll head there if there’s a sudden loud noise, but soon comes out again and gets huge reassurance from her special person. She comes with her small cat tower, blankies, toys, food, bowls, grooming brushes, a litter tray & litter. There is no fee as a great home is our priority. Foster to adopt is an option as is a ‘forever foster’ scheme. She would welcome visitors to come and meet her prior to adoption. Located in a foster home just west of Terrace.

Renamed her JazzPurr (Was Jasper) aka Jazzy for her new life ♥️

Bottle Guy Barry has asked us to gently remind the wonderful folk who drop off their pop cans, water bottles, milk containers, wine bottles etc. to help us raise funds, that this is only for 'returnable' beverage containers & not household recycling, which can be taken to Do Your Part Recycling Co in Thornhill. Here’s a photo from Barry taken on Sunday.
We are so grateful for these donations which last year provided just over 57% of our total income.
