The warm weather is here… and so are the ticks! ☀️🕷️
Ticks are more than just a nuisance — they can transmit serious diseases to our pets, including Lyme disease, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. The good news? Prevention and routine screening can help keep your pets healthy and protected.
🐾 Lyme Disease
Caused by bacteria transmitted through deer ticks. Many dogs may not show signs initially, but symptoms can include:
• Fever
• Lethargy
• Decreased appetite
• Joint pain or shifting leg lameness
• Swollen joints
🐾 Anaplasma
Another tick-borne bacterial infection that can cause:
• Fever
• Lethargy
• Painful joints
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Bruising or bleeding abnormalities in some pets
🐾 Ehrlichia
Most commonly spread by the brown dog tick. Signs may include:
• Fever
• Weight loss
• Enlarged lymph nodes
• Low platelet counts
• Bruising or bleeding
• Chronic infections can become more serious over time
🩺 What is a 4Dx Test?
The 4Dx test is a simple blood test your veterinarian can run yearly (or more often for at-risk pets). It screens for:
✔️ Lyme disease
✔️ Anaplasma
✔️ Ehrlichia
✔️ Heartworm disease
Even pets that appear healthy can test positive, which is why routine testing is so important!
✅ Keep pets protected year-round with tick prevention
✅ Check your pets for ticks after walks or hikes
✅ Talk to your veterinarian about annual 4Dx screening
