Dr. Vetamin Internal Medicine Service with Board-Certified Veterinary Specialist Review is designed to support family veterinarians with access to advanced diagnostics and expert case assessments — without long delays or added costs.

🩺 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬:
We accept referrals directly from your family veterinarian. Based on your pet’s needs, we work collaboratively with your vet to determine if any additional diagnostics — such as ultrasound, biopsies, or joint taps — would assist the board-certified internal medicine specialist in developing the most effective treatment plan.
All recommended tests are performed at 𝐃𝐫. 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥. Once complete, your pet’s full case is securely shared with a reputable board-certified internal medicine specialist for review and treatment recommendations.

"
𝟖 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐈 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐦.

I was an international student in Canada, here on a temporary visa. My academic supervisor — someone entrusted with shaping future scientists — told me:
"If you don’t produce positive results in your experiments, I’ll stop paying your salary. You’ll be fired and have to leave Canada."

It was one of the worst days of my life. I felt powerless, unheard, and exploited — all because I chose honesty in science over manipulation.

The stress of that day triggered a serious medical condition — immune-mediated thrombocytopenia. My body turned against itself. I was bruised, bleeding, and barely holding it together — emotionally and physically.

Today, I remember how broken I felt in that moment…

But I didn’t give up.

Today, I am proud to be a Canadian. I’ve built a life rooted in science, compassion, and service. I’m a veterinarian, a toxicologist, and an entrepreneur. I’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of pets and their families, I’ve created more than a dozen jobs for Canadians, and a hospital that upholds the very values that were once denied to me.

That same supervisor? He’s now banned from the University of Ottawa for data manipulation and academic fraud.

And me? I have a wonderful family, incredible coworkers, and a clear vision for the future of veterinary care — one built on integrity, evidence, and kindness.

This journey taught me:
✅ Truth matters more than results
✅ Science must be ethical
✅ Challenges shape better leaders

To any student, immigrant, or young professional facing silent battles: keep going. Stay grounded in your values. They’ll take you further than fear ever could.

🚨 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀! 🚨

Yesterday, our team at 𝗗𝗿. 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 performed an emergency surgery to remove a corn cob stuck in a dog’s stomach. Thankfully, the surgery was successful and our brave patient is now recovering well. 💪🐶❤️

Corn cobs may seem harmless, but they do not digest and can cause life-threatening intestinal blockages. Dogs love to chew on them — especially after backyard BBQs — but swallowing even a small piece can lead to vomiting, pain, and the need for emergency surgery.

✅ 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗽:
Always dispose of corn cobs in a secure garbage bin, and never leave them within reach of your dog.

If your dog suddenly stops eating, vomits, or shows signs of abdominal discomfort, don't wait — call us right away.

Excessive panting or drooling

Weakness or collapse

Vomiting or diarrhea

Bright red gums or tongue

🔥 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀:
✅ Never leave your pet in a parked car — even for a few minutes
✅ Keep walks short and during cooler times (early morning or evening)
✅ Always provide access to fresh, cool water and shade
✅ Avoid hot pavement — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
✅ Watch brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds and seniors even more closely
