And.... our other shy girl. Look at her leaning in for pets and coming back for more.

AVAILABLE
Name: Nessa 🩷
Gender: Female
Breed: DSH
Approx. DOB: March 31, 2024
Good with cats: mildly
Good with dogs: yes (cat savvy dogs.
Good with kids: likely yes (older kids who understand Nessa's need for space).
This once-timid girl is discovering the joy of affection, accepting gentle rubs and pets—sometimes with a cautious swat—only to return for more love. She’ll roll over beside you, reach for your hand, and clearly ask for attention.
As a young mother, Nessa missed out on part of her kittenhood, but she’s now embracing playtime with wand toys, balls, and anything that skitters across the floor. Squeeze treats bring out her bravest side; she’ll even stand on you and knead your leg while reaching for her reward.
She can now be coaxed downstairs for her meals, still hesitant but curious and spending longer down with me each day.
Great work, Nessa! šŸ’› Could you be Nessa's forever person. Meet her over Zoom and chat with her foster Mom.https://forms.gle/vkVEEC73Z9jHmzDC9

Over the last few days we have featured cats with medical needs but today it is the shy cats. No meds, no extra vet appointments or special food. What they require is free. Love and patience.

*AVAILABLE*
Name: Piano
Breed: DSH
DOB: April 7, 2021
S*x: Female
Litter trained: yes
Good with cats: calm respectful cats
Good with dogs: unlikely
Good with kids: likely older kids
Rescued from euthanasia last year Piano has been with us 277 days. In that time she has suffered some pretty major surgery and setbacks. Recently she moved to another foster home and is doing so well. Cats sometimes associate past homes and people with negative experiences despite how much they are cared for. Wanting only what is best for her and agreeing to only the best foster home her Mom sent her on. Gradually, this courageous cat is opening up to new experiences and people. This brave cat’s whole world appears brighter.
Her new foster, lucky for us, was up at 2:30 AM. What does one do at that time? Play with the cats and film it of course. Piano has fully integrated with the four resident cats and is beginning to understand that humans are not so bad after all.
If you are interested in watching Piano blossom in your home and think you could be her special person just complete an application form. We will even attempt an on camera Zoom chat with her. https://forms.gle/vkVEEC73Z9jHmzDC9

Alina is a special care cat. She does require a vet prescribed diet and takes thyroid meds (happily) twice daily but the reward for taking care of her is endless cuddles, squeaks and purrs.
AVAILABLE
Name: Alina
Gender: female
Breed: DSH tabby
DOB: approx. 2014
Good with cats: yes
Good with dogs: yes
Good with kids: unknown
Litter trained: yes
From the moment she arrived at OKR, Alina showed what a loving soul she is. She wasted no time asking for pets, making biscuits, and purring her heart out. She has the most wonderful ā€œsqueaksā€ and loves to share what’s on her mind. She has a wonderfully silly side too: she loves chasing reflections of light around the room and has a strong preference for drinking water from a glass instead of a bowl.
After a long day, Alina will happily meow to let you know she’s ready for some love and attention, making her an especially comforting presence in the evenings. It’s hard to believe this wonderful lady once faced euthanasia. Thanks to a second chance, she’s now thriving, full of warmth and gratitude. Alina is finally ready for adoption, and she’s an absolute star with her medication. Whoever gives her a forever home one day will be very lucky. ā¤ļø
If you believe you are a match and would like to meet her over Zoom and chat to her foster Mom please complete our application form contained in our pinned post.

NOT AVAILABLE- we will NOT be answering any inquiries about adoption.

Meet this brave 6 month old Maine C**n kitten who came to us under the scariest of circumstances. He was rushed in for emergency surgery for what everyone believed was a foreign body. Once the surgeons opened him up, they discovered something far more concerning: severely swollen lymph nodes.

This pointed to a number of serious possibilities, with FIP and lymphoma at the very top of the list.
After rigorous, specialized, and very costly testing, both FIP and cancer have now been ruled out. While he is currently on FIP medication and responding well, the truth is it is not FIP. We still do not have a clear diagnosis.

What we do know is that this sweet boy is fighting hard, and we are fighting right alongside him. We are continuing to work closely with specialists to uncover what is happening and how best to help him thrive.

As if that was not enough, he was recently diagnosed with ringworm. He is currently in isolation and undergoing treatment so he can heal safely and not put other kittens at risk.

So far, his medical journey has cost thousands of dollars, and we need your help to keep going for him.

Every dollar helps us continue diagnostics, treatment, and care for this tiny soul who deserves a full, happy life.

🐱 FosterUpdate – Week 27
Can you believe these cuties have been in foster care for over 6 months now?! How is this possible? They are deeply loved by their foster parents, but it’s time for them to find a forever home of their very own.
Dalinar is a tiny whirlwind with zero fear and endless charm. He’s an avid fisherman (the bathtub is his favourite fishing spot), foster dad’s go-to cuddle buddy, destroyer of boxes, and everyone’s best friend.
Renarin is a big, soft, heart-melting cuddle bug. He’s shy with strangers at first, but once he’s out of his shell—oh boy, you’re in for a treat. He’s easily the most entertaining kitten to play with; his impressive jumps and lightning-fast reactions don’t give toys a chance. He’s also quite vocal and will happily tell you all about his day, including detailed complaints about not being allowed to scavenge the countertops—all delivered in adorable chirps.
If you’re looking for love, laughter, and a whole lot of personality, these boys are ready.
šŸ’« Adoption Note
Like all our kittens, they must go to a home with another cat or make our dream come true and be adopted together.
Check out our pinned post for adoption details and the application form. Meet them over Zoom and chat with Mom — they’ll check their diary (and foster Mom’s) to schedule you in:

Ottawa Kitten Rescue

We welcome you all in support of our new feline rescue, Ottawa Kitten Rescue. For those that know us, it comes as no surprise that we would join forces to save the lives of kittens and cats in need.

Given we both have such a strong passion for helping animals, we felt there no better way to honour this passion than to start a rescue. And so, we introduce, with so much love and excitement in our hearts: Ottawa Kitten Rescue.

Ottawa Kitten Rescue will focus its efforts primarily on rescuing abandoned neonatal kittens and will extend care and support to pregnant cats and moms with kittens.

We would like to thank everyone for their support in our efforts and we can’t wait to begin this journey with you allā¤ļø
