Let’s start the weekend with a happy tale.
After the passing of her beloved Mali of 17 years Marie-Pier was not looking to replace her. That would be impossible. As often happens the cat distribution system quietly came into play. A cat popped onto her screen: Annie. It was like looking into the soul of her cat. ‘I feel she pointed me to this cat, that it was time to pour my care and love into another animal’ A perfect interviewee Annie sat on her foster’s lap during the Zoom chat. We just knew it. A match.
Congratulations and welcome to the OKR family Marie-Pier and thank you Melanie for not ignoring the little cat that came looking for help, taking her in and caring for her until she found her way to a forever loving home.

Morsel came to us from a Quebec shelter. On ‘the list’ as room was needed and he had been there too long. Why? Just because he was shy and overlooked by potential adopters. We believe he would do well with a buddy to show him how wonderful and safe his life could be.

AVAILABLE

Name: MORSEL
Gender: Male
est DOB: April 20, 2025
Litter trained: Yes
Good with cats: Unknown
Good with kids: Unknown
Good with dogs: Unknown
Foster update: Morsel is a shy, energetic and an especially food motivated little kitty. Every morning he greets us with a few squeaks begging for breakfast. During the day he is quiet, lounges in his cat tower and will occasionally accept scritches under his chin when he is relaxed. His current favourite game is playing catch on our carpeted stairs just before bedtime. We recently discovered that he is fascinated by the TV! If you would be interested in our little shy cat and helping him blossom into a fully fledged house panther please consider completing an application form. (See our pinned post https://www.facebook.com/ottawakittenrescue/posts/256516833551414 A chat with his foster parent and meeting him may just convince you he is ‘the one’

Name: Primrose
Breed: DMH
Est. DOB: April 4, 2022
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Maybe if they provide good treats
Good with dogs: Unknown

Little Miss Primrose was supposed to be an overnight stay in April. Petite, pregnant and truly pathetic with that terrible haircut. Heartbreakingly, all four of her kittens died within 24 hours. Since then, Primrose has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated, and she is now ready for a home of her own. We gave her extra time, hoping she might decide that people are wonderful. Her verdict: we are acceptable staff and should know our place, serve meals (on time), scoop litter boxes, and provide a warm bed.
Primrose likes to be close by, just not too close. She sleeps on the bed, lounges on the arm of the chair. Try to pet her, however, and you may witness a new land speed record as she bounces away. She has never missed a meal or refused a treat, and she excavates her litter with the enthusiasm of a mad bunny. Primrose is not shy: she plays in plain sight, naps wherever she pleases, and is very much part of the foster clowder. We do not know her full history, but her condition on arrival, her FIV+ status suggests she had been outdoors for some time. She may never be a cuddly lap cat, but she is funny, resilient, and wonderfully herself. For the right person, someone happy to love her on her own terms. Primrose could be a truly special companion.
She must be in a home with another cat(s). If you think you could fulfil the role of unpaid staff please complete an application and we will see if she will agree to a Zoom chat. https://www.facebook.com/ottawakittenrescue/posts/256516833551414

Annie and Fern are two smart cats who each found their way to a foster mom while she was trying (and failing) to take a break. Despite every effort to locate their owners, neither cat was claimed. Now healthy, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed, they are ready to find loving homes where they will always be safe and cherished.

Names: Annie and Fern
Gender: Female
Breed: DMH & DSH
Estimated dates of birth: September 2024 and September 2025
Good with cats: Unknown
Good with children: Yes
Good with dogs: Unknown
Litter trained: Yes
FOSTER NOTES:
Annie — This charming little lady is happiest on or near your lap, especially when chin scratches are included. If Annie had her way, a welcoming lap would be available all day, although the sink will do in a pinch! Having a bad day? Let Annie purr your worries away. As she is declawed and reacts fearfully to other cats, Annie needs to be the only cat in her new home.

Fern — Despite all the changes she has experienced since being found in the woods, Fern remains curious, playful, and affectionate. She loves perching on a window ledge and napping in the evening breeze. Fascinated by the resident cats, she has even started bringing her toys near the door for them. Fern is as playful as ever and has also become wonderfully cuddly. She enjoys curling up in the crook of your arm, rolling onto her back, and making biscuits in the air. With time and careful introductions, she could become another cat’s best friend.

Should you feel you could be their family please complete our application form https://www.facebook.com/ottawakittenrescue/posts/256516833551414 and we will schedule a chat with Foster Mom and Fern/Annie.

A memorable thanksgiving for one family and one cat. Sweet as a buttercup from day one, this little cat came to us from “the list” We ensured that her minor medical needs were addressed. Once confirmed healthy—and clearly playful, affectionate, and adorable it wasn’t long before Buttercup caught someone’s eye. Could she be the perfect feline friend for Ellie? The family made its decision: YES! Today, Buttercup begins her forever life. Home at last.
Welcome, Trisha, Ray, Izzie, and Nathan, to the OKR family! And thank you to Reita and Dante for stepping up and loving Buttercup as your own.
