Meet Rico! He's a two-year-old rottweiler mix looking for his forever home, ideally without young children and where he can be the only pet. Rico is an energetic, playful and affectionate boy who loves staying busy and spending time with his favourite people. Whether he's running around outdoors, playing a game of fetch or burning off some zoomies, he's always ready for some fun! Once he's had his fill of adventure, Rico is more than happy to curl up beside his favourite people and soak up all the love and cuddles he can get.

We may never know the circumstances that led to Gigi and Cookie being left on someone's doorstep, but we're grateful they found their way to the OHS.

Our veterinary team was there to provide Gigi and Cookie with the compassionate care that they needed, including spay surgeries and vaccinations to help set them up for a healthy future. Even after everything they had been through, these sweet puppies were still cuddly and playful.

Today, we're happy to report that both of these adorable girls have been adopted! We're thankful for our caring community who make second chances like Gigi's and Cookie's possible.

Spay/neuter is essential for a pet's health and well-being, and that is exactly what Rachel and Sharf want for their cat Cabrio.

Registration is open for our new Take Our Kids to Work Day at the OHS!

Grade 9 students will get an inside look at the work we do to care for Ottawa's animals, take part in hands-on activities, tour the Shirley Kearns Memorial Adoption Centre and learn about the many different career opportunities in animal welfare.

Meet Vache and Beige, two sweet three-year-old Jack Russell terrier sisters who share a special bond. When they first arrived, both girls were quite timid, unsure of their surroundings and struggling with poor appetite.

To help them feel more comfortable, our team gave them time to decompress in staff offices, where they could enjoy a quieter environment and some extra love and attention. Little by little, the sisters began to come out of their shells, and their appetites started to improve.

Vache and Beige are still shy girls who prefer quiet environments and need a little extra time to feel safe, but with continued patience, a calm environment and plenty of encouragement, Vache and Beige are slowly gaining confidence and showing more of their sweet, quirky personalities.
