🌷⚠️ Spring Dangers for Pets ⚠️🌷
Spring is a beautiful time of year… but it also brings some hidden risks for our pets. Here are a few important things to watch out for:
🌸 Lilies & Cats = Dangerous Combo
Even a small exposure (pollen, leaves, or water from the vase) can cause severe kidney failure in cats.
➡️ Best rule: No lilies in homes with cats.
🍬 Artificial Sweeteners (Xylitol/Birch Sugar)
Found in gum, candy, peanut butter, and baked goods — even small amounts can cause dangerous drops in blood sugar and liver failure in dogs.
🌱 Compost Bins & Yard Waste
As things thaw, compost can grow toxic moulds that can cause tremors, seizures, and serious illness if ingested.
🐭 Rodenticides (Rat Poison)
More commonly used in spring — these are highly toxic and can be fatal if ingested directly or through prey.
💚 Prevention is key:
✔️ Be mindful of what’s in your home and yard
✔️ Keep toxins out of reach
✔️ Supervise outdoor time when possible
