Ticks can be active anytime the temperature is above 4°C. If your furry friends are spending time outdoors—especially in tall grass or wooded areas—be sure to check them thoroughly for ticks after every outing.

Ticks can transmit several serious diseases, including lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis. To help protect your pet, we recommend:
-Using a veterinarian-approved tick preventative
-Considering the lyme vaccine, especially for pets frequently outdoors

Have questions about which preventative is right for your pet? Give us—or your local veterinarian—a call. We’re happy to help you choose the best protection for your furry companion.

Dear Valued Clients,

We regret to inform you that due to circumstances beyond our control, Hometown Veterinary Hospital will no longer be able to offer weekend emergency services for the foreseeable future. As a result, any emergency calls made to our hospital over the weekend will be directed to Port City Emergency Veterinary Hospital for care.

Your pet's health is our top priority, and we need you to know that this decision was not made lightly. We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding while we navigate through this difficult situation. Rest assured, we are actively working towards a resolution which will allow us to resume our normal emergency coverage. Our weekday emergency coverage will stay the same during this time. We will aim to provide an update in the new year as the situation evolves.

Thank you for your continued trust in us – we remain committed to your pets’ well-being, and we will keep you informed as we work through these changes. As always in case your pet experiences an emergency, call our main number 506-450-4663 and you will be directed accordingly.
