A milestone worth celebrating! 🐾💛

We’re proud to see PET Theranostics featured in Your Business magazine, highlighting the role of advanced nuclear medicine and PET/CT in veterinary care.

PET/CT is opening new possibilities in veterinary medicine, providing valuable insights into cancer metabolism, treatment response and disease assessment in companion animals.

From Sydney to the wider veterinary community, we’re excited to continue raising awareness of what PET/CT can offer our patients and the veterinarians caring for them.

🔬🐶🐱 The future of veterinary imaging is here.

✨Does my pet need anaesthesia for a PET/CT scan?

One of the most common questions we hear from pet owners is: “Does my pet need anaesthesia, and is it safe?”

Because PET/CT requires your pet to remain completely still during the scan, sedation or general anaesthesia is often required to ensure high-quality images and, most importantly, your pet’s comfort and safety.

Before the procedure, every patient is carefully assessed by our veterinary team, and anaesthesia is tailored to each individual patient based on their health, age and specific needs. 🩷

During the scan, your pet is closely monitored by our trained veterinary team from start to finish.

PET/CT in veterinary medicine 🐾🔬

PET/CT is one of the most advanced imaging technologies available in veterinary medicine, combining metabolic information from PET with the detailed anatomical images provided by CT.

Unlike conventional imaging, PET can reveal areas of increased metabolic activity, helping us better understand the biology and behaviour of disease. This makes PET/CT a powerful tool in oncology, neurology, inflammation and other complex conditions. 🌎 With only around 10 veterinary PET/CT scanners worldwide, this technology represents one of the most specialised frontiers in veterinary diagnostic imaging.

🔬 Can PET-CT detect lesions that MRI cannot?

PET-CT and MRI provide different—and complementary—information.

While MRI offers excellent anatomical detail, PET-CT can show metabolic activity, helping identify areas of abnormal tissue activity that may not be obvious on structural imaging alone.

👉 Curious to know when PET-CT can add valuable information to your patient’s diagnostic work-up?

🐾 What is the main advantage of PET/CT scans for animals?

PET/CT combines functional and anatomical imaging to give veterinarians a more complete picture of what is happening inside your pet’s body. 🐶🐱

✨ Why PET/CT?
• Helps detect areas of increased metabolic activity
• Supports earlier detection and staging of cancer
• Helps identify the extent of disease
• Combines PET functional information with detailed CT anatomy
• Supports treatment planning and monitoring
• Provides valuable information that may not be visible on conventional imaging alone

At Pet Theranostics, advanced imaging helps veterinarians make more informed decisions and provide personalised care for their patients. 💙

📩 Speak with your veterinarian to find out whether PET/CT may be appropriate for your patient.

A milestone worth celebrating. ✨🐾

On 6 August, we officially celebrated the launch of Pet Theranostics, together with ONE Cancer Care for Pets, bringing together veterinary oncology, nuclear medicine and advanced diagnostic imaging.

From Dr. David Lurie sharing the vision behind ONE Cancer Care for Pets, to Dr. Max Zuber presenting Australia’s first dedicated PET/CT scanner for animals, and Dr. Ian Swainson sharing his expertise in nuclear medicine and PET/CT in human medicine — it was an evening of knowledge, collaboration and innovation.

We’re incredibly excited for what lies ahead and for the opportunity to work together to advance veterinary cancer care and provide innovative diagnostic imaging for our patients. 🐾💙

Here’s to the beginning of something truly special. ✨
