Oops… she did it again! 🤦‍♀️🍫

When Sahara decided that ten Raffaello chocolates (wrappers included!) would make the perfect breakfast, her family didn’t waste any time getting her to Newbridge Animal Centre.

Thankfully, acting quickly meant we were able to induce vomiting and remove the chocolates before they could cause more serious problems. Despite the morning’s drama, Sahara remained her usual happy self, tail wagging the entire time! ❤️

This is a great reminder that if your pet has eaten something they shouldn’t, don’t wait for symptoms to appear. The sooner you seek veterinary advice, the more treatment options we often have available.

Many of our clients will recognise Sahara as one of our regular visitors, but she is also the face behind a wonderful Australian-owned pet care range, Earth Dog. We are proud to stock and use a number of Earth Dog products within our clinic and love supporting local businesses that are passionate about pet health and wellbeing.

We’re very pleased to report that Sahara is doing well and back home where she belongs.

GCh Champion Hugh Roller “Juan”, beloved by our Practice Manager, has had an extraordinary career in the show ring. With multiple Best in Shows, Specialty Best in Shows, and even a Royal title under his belt, Juan has truly left his mark.

Now enjoying his well-earned retirement, keeping Juan in peak condition remains a top priority. Since transitioning to Hill’s Prescription Diet Derm Complete, the results have been incredible.

. 🐾We have wonderful news 🐾

We are excited to welcome our newest member Dr Hayley Billingsley to our veterinary team!

Dr Hayley’s passion for veterinary medicine began with her much-loved Old English Sheepdog, Harmony, which inspired her lifelong dedication to caring for animals. Before becoming a veterinarian, she spent seven years working in canine behaviour and training, running puppy school, obedience classes, and agility programs.

She completed a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 2021, before going on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sydney.

Dr Hayley has a strong interest in dermatology, behavioural medicine, and dentistry. She especially enjoys helping owners better understand their pets and values building long-term relationships through preventative care and education.

Appointments are available by phone NOW and online booking for Dr Hayley will be open and available soon.

We’re thrilled to have her on board and know our clients and patients will love getting to know her!

Today we celebrate World Veterinary Day — a day to recognise the dedication, compassion, and hard work of veterinary teams everywhere.
At Newbridge Animal Centre, we feel incredibly proud of our team, and especially grateful for the leadership and example set by our clinic owner, Dr Jennifer Myers and colleague Dr Natalia Ramos.
For many years, they have shown exceptional dedication to the veterinary industry — not only through the care they provide to every animal, but through the compassion, integrity, and support they bring to their team and community every single day.
Their passion is at the heart of everything we do, and we are so lucky to be guided by such strong, caring professionals.

🐣 Easter Pet Safety Tips from Newbridge Animal Centre 🐾

The Easter holidays are a lovely time to relax and enjoy with family, but they can also bring a few hidden dangers for our furry friends. Here are some simple tips to help keep your pets safe and happy:

🍫 Keep chocolate out of reach
Chocolate is toxic to both dogs and cats, even in small amounts—especially dark chocolate.

🍇 Watch out for hot cross buns
These often contain raisins or sultanas, which can be very dangerous for dogs.

🌸 Be mindful of Easter lilies
While beautiful, lilies are extremely toxic to cats—even a small amount can be life-threatening.

🧺 Secure Easter baskets & decorations
Foil wrappers, plastic grass, and small toys can cause choking or intestinal blockages if swallowed.

🍗 Avoid feeding table scraps
Rich or fatty foods can upset your pet’s stomach or cause more serious issues like pancreatitis.

If your pet experiences any of the above issues during our closure periods, please contact a 24-hour emergency veterinary centre for immediate assistance.

. 🐾 Progress Update! 🐾

Our lovely standard poodle client Autumn had been experiencing ongoing episodes of diarrhoea and digestive upset, so our team with the help of Hill’s started him on a 12-week diet trial with Hill’s Prescription Diet Gastrointestinal Biome.

We’re so pleased to report that Autumn has been doing wonderfully on his new diet! This specialised food is designed to support digestive health and promote a healthy gut microbiome, and over the past three months we’ve seen fantastic improvement in Autumn’s gut health and overall wellbeing. 👏

It’s always incredibly rewarding to see our patients feeling better and thriving, and Autumn has done an amazing job sticking to his diet plan!
