A morning in the life of a mobile vet. After we made this video Jen and I reflected that it looks a lot like we just drink coffee and cuddle cats. Some work was definitely done.

A couple of weeks ago, my son Leo, started childcare. On his very first day, one of the wonderful carers recognised me and came over for a chat. Her Border Collie, Sam, was one of the very first dogs I put to sleep when I started my business almost five years ago.
She had tears in her eyes as she told me there hasn’t been a single day since that she hasn’t thought about or missed Sam. It was a beautiful reminder of the deep impact our companions have on our lives.
I hadn’t seen her since Sam’s final visit, but the card she gave me afterwards has sat framed on my desk ever since. It reads:
“To listen and show love. It’s that simple.”
They seem like such apt words to live and run a business by.

Just a photo of five beautiful souls to brighten your day.
This is Anakin, Leia and Charlotte who Dr Hannah and nurse Jen saw last week for their annual vaccinations and health checks. The tabby triplets don't mind a vet visit when they don't have to leave the house and the snacks and pats come to them.
If you have a cat who doesn't like the carrier, the car or who gets very stressed by visiting the vet clinic, then let us come to you.

If you are lucky enough to have a dog who's greying around the eyebrows and muzzle and who's slowing down or just needs a check over, feel free to reach out to us.
We love a grey muzzled dog and this is Dudley, one of our favourites. Despite how shocked he looks, he does love a house visit from us.
Dudley wishes you all a beautiful week.

This is Molly. Molly loves nothing more than spending the day at home with her human, a little morning and afternoon snack to break things up and a scratch on her bottom.
Molly dislikes rainy days and prefers to wee inside to avoid the stress of wet tootsies. She quite likes the snacks the vets bring but less so when they start using their vet hands instead of feeding hands.
We love Molly. It's a 11/10 from us.

One of the things we commonly check in our senior cats at home is blood pressure, and we’ve recently had a run of cats with hypertension (high blood pressure).
Like in people, high blood pressure is a silent killer, often with no obvious signs in the early stages. As it worsens, it can damage the heart, kidneys, and eyes. Luckily, it’s usually an easy condition to treat.
This is Ms Winifred Baker (Dignified Elder Lady), who thoroughly enjoys the continuous stream of treats that accompanies Dr Alysha and Nina’s visits while she has her blood pressure checked. Keeping stress levels low (through food or pats) is critical, as stress can falsely increase readings.
If your cat is over 8, blood pressures are a great thing to include in their senior checks.

This week we said goodbye to one of Hannah, Jen and Alysha’s favourite patients, Boomer.
Sometimes there are furry souls that really leave a lasting impression and that was Boomer. He was so loved and touched many lives.
A huge thank you to the team at North Hobart Vet who were able to get out to see him on short notice when we couldn’t. We’re so grateful to be able to work collaboratively with other clinics to achieve the best care for our patients.
Boomer will be so missed by his soul human Sophie and all the wider community who loved him, including us. ❤️

We've been busy catching up with some of our most loved patients over the last couple of months.
This is Salami who has never been thrilled with veterinary attention (understatement) but after months of visits, chin rubs and patience she now loves Jen (and to a lesser extend Hannah and Alysha).
She enjoys a vet visit where she can stay in bed under the covers.
