🌟 Happy International Vet Nurse Day! 🌟

Today, we’re celebrating the heart and soul of our hospitals – our incredible VET NURSES! 💙🐾

Across our 4 hospitals, we’re proud to have 37 incredibly dedicated and hard-working vet nurses who go above and beyond every single day. From assisting our clients in consultations and reception, performing laboratory tests, administering medications, assisting vets in surgery, monitoring patients whilst anaesthetised, comforting worried pets (and their humans!), to keeping our hospitals running smoothly and a whole lot more!!! – they truly do it all!

We are incredibly proud and grateful to have such a passionate and skilled team as part of the TVH family. 💚

To all our nurses – thank you for your compassion, commitment, and care. We simply couldn’t do what we do without you!

Meet beautiful Nurse Rachel. 💙

Rachel moved from Melbourne with her partner Mary to live in Hobart and joined the team in September 2022.

Rachel absolutely loves veterinary nursing, it has introduced her to the best kind of people.

She loves getting to see the connection between owner and pet. Rachel has a special interest in rabbits, and worked at a rabbit clinic for 4 years before moving to general practice for the last few years.

In Rachel's leisure time, she likes to roller skate, do puzzles and take photos of whatever bugs she can find.

We are so incredibly proud to have watched Nurse Rach grow into the amazing, knowledgeable nurse she is today. She is the rock of the Sorell TVH team and we always look forward to seeing her smiling face at work. 🥰🥰

🎆🎇Fireworks warning for tonight. 🎆🎇

Emmanuel Christian School is hosting fireworks at the school premises this Friday at 7.45pm.

Please keep your pets indoors if they are noise sensitive and if they are outside please make sure they can not escape your yard.

Please find below some more tips to keep your pets safe tonight
• Make a safe place to hide
• Draw curtains so they can’t hear
• Put on a radio or TV so they can’t hear
• Distract with treats and toys
• Make sure microchips are up to date (We have unfortunately had many dogs come to our hospital with incorrect contact details)
• Make sure they are wearing ID

If your pets have any trouble with the noise tonight please call the clinic on Monday to discuss ways we may be able to help.

Have a lovely weekend everyone. 💙

Dr Scott has been a part of our TVH family for some time now, but we were waiting for his beautiful photos with his fur babies. 🐶👏

Dr Scott grew up in south-east Queensland and graduated in 2005 from the University of Queensland. He moved straight to Hobart after graduation and loves living in Tasmania.

Dr Scott has worked in several clinics around Hobart and joined the TVH family in July 2024. He loves being a vet and has a special interest in ultrasound, dentistry and behaviour.

Outside of work, Dr Scott loves gardening, playing hockey and multi-day hikes. He lives with his partner and their 2 whippets, Morris and Winston.

For those who have already met Dr Scott have witnessed his wonderful care towards his fur patients and their owners. We are so incredibly thankful to have Dr Scott a part of the TVH family, we don't know what we would do without his infectious laugh and caring nature. 🥰💙

15/09/2025

Please be aware more damaging winds are issued for tonight.

Please make sure your pets are in a secure place. We would hate for any pet to get out due to these winds.

It is a timely reminder to make sure your pets microchipped is up to date with current address and contact details.

Please take care. 💙

Does your pet have allergies? Your pet can have allergies just like humans! 🤧

Skin allergies are one of the top three reasons why people take their pet to the vet. It’s possible to spot the signs of irritation caused by skin conditions and treat them so your pet can continue to be their wonderful self.

Skin Allergies, also known as Dermatitis, can be caused by fleas or other parasites, bacterial infections, reaction to poor diet or environment.

We hate to see your pet uncomfortable, so if you see one or more of the following symptoms then we’d highly recommend getting in touch.

You know your pet better than anyone else. If you think something is wrong, we highly recommend to book an appointment with our knowledge vets. We will also make sure your pet is well cared for. 💙

Meet Nurse Olivia 🥰

Olivia is a Senior Veterinary Nurse at Tasmanian Veterinary Hospitals with over five years of experience in the veterinary field. She began her journey with TVH in 2020 as a trainee nurse and has since completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies and Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Olivia has since progressed into the Clinical Nursing role, where she plays a vital role in hospital operations/management and provides support to both patients and the veterinary team. She has a strong foundation in patient care and is committed to ensuring every animal receives the highest standard of treatment.

Her professional interests include complex anaesthesia and internal medicine. Olivia finds it incredibly rewarding to be entrusted with a family pet’s care and to nurse them back to health. She is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for her patients and their families. 👏

Outside of work, Olivia enjoys spending time at the beach, out on a walk or at home with her husband, Aaron, and their beloved ginger cat, Jimmy. 🐱

It has been a privilege to watch Olivia’s journey as she has grown into the skilled and compassionate nurse she is today. We are so lucky she is a part of the TVH family. 💙💙

Welcome to Spring, and what a start to the season we have had already! We do hope everyone is safe and sound. 🌼

With Spring brings exciting new smells for our animal friends, but can also bring a lot of allergies or discomforts. It is a timely reminder to make sure your pet is up to date with their yearly vaccinations, but also the opportunity to ask questions if you see that your pet may be suffering any allergies due to the change of season. Have you notice any changes in your pet you are unsure of? It is the time to ask your knowledgeable and caring vets.

📣We would like to make you aware due to high demand that it is best to book ahead a couple of weeks for non-urgent appointments to save disappointment. If your pet is due for their annual vaccination soon, we would highly recommend calling our clinic to lock in that appointment in with your favourite vet in advance. At our clinics, we pride ourselves on the loyalty shown by our clients and in turn want to continue to provide you and your animals the very best care. ❤️‍🩹

If you have any further inquiries, please do not hesitate to call our clinic and one of our friendly staff members will be able to assist you.💙
