💪🎉 PUSH-UP CHALLENGE – DAY 4! 🎉💪

We've officially smashed out 442 push-ups (or squats!) so far! 🙌

Today's goal? A whopping 150 push-ups! 🔥

That means after today, we'll have just 2,865 to go... 😅 (Who's counting?!)

The good news? Tomorrow is our first rest day! 🎉 We think we've earned it!

Today's inspiration comes from our amazing rehabilitation nurse Zoe and her adorable helpers, Kip and Ava. ❤️

Well... "helpers" might be a stretch! 😂

Kip has decided that if Mum needs extra motivation, the best way is to become a human weighted vest and lie directly on top of her during push-ups! 💪🤣

Meanwhile, Ava has taken a much sweeter coaching approach, providing plenty of encouragement in the form of kisses. 😘

Between the extra weight and the surprise smooches, we're not sure whether Zoe's workout was easier or harder!

While we're having a bit of fun, we're also taking part in a challenge that shines a light on something incredibly important.

🧠 Recent research from a survey of 1,302 Australians found that:
▪️ 60% of respondents said their personal lives, including health and relationships, are having the biggest impact on their mental health right now.
▪️ 37% identified the cost of living as one of the biggest factors affecting their mental wellbeing.

These numbers remind us that mental health challenges are touching the lives of many Australians every day. That's why we're proud to be participating in this challenge—to raise awareness, encourage conversations, and support better mental health for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who has followed along, cheered us on, donated, or joined in. 💙

Now, wish us luck as we tackle today's 150 push-ups... and then enjoy a well-earned rest day tomorrow! 💪😴

🐶🛍️ Special delivery! 🛍️🐶

Meet Dan, a 10-week-old puppy who tipped the scales at 4.2kg when he visited our TVH Sorell Hospital last week. But it wasn't just Dan who turned heads—it was his mode of transport! 😆

This little guy arrived safely tucked inside a Woolworths shopping bag, carried proudly by his dad. Why? Because Dan isn't fully vaccinated yet, and his dad wanted to keep him protected from potential exposure to diseases while also keeping him secure during the trip. 🐾❤️

While we don't usually recommend the "grocery bag express" as a long-term travel solution, we absolutely love seeing owners take their puppy's health and safety seriously! 🥰

Puppies are vulnerable to serious illnesses, such as parvovirus, until they've completed their vaccination course. Until then, it's important to:
✅ Avoid letting them walk in public areas where unknown dogs may have been.
✅ Carry them when visiting places outside the home.
✅ Keep them safely restrained when travelling in the car.
✅ Follow your vet's vaccination schedule.

Dan may have arrived looking like someone's cutest shopping haul ever, but his dad's careful approach is a great reminder that keeping young pets safe before they're fully vaccinated is well worth the extra effort.

Have you ever had a creative way of transporting your pet? Share your photos and stories below! 👇🐶🐱

❄️🐾 Welcome to our Tassie Winter season! 🐾❄️

With the cooler months now here, it's a good reminder to make sure your pets have a warm, dry, and sheltered place to rest. Extra blankets, cosy beds, and protection from Tasmania's chilly winds can help keep them comfortable all season long. 🐶🐱💙

💪 This June, some of our team members will also be taking part in The Push-Up Challenge as the TVH Pawsitive Pushers!

From 3–26 June, we'll be completing push-ups to raise awareness and funds for mental health. This is a cause close to the veterinary profession, where the wellbeing of our teams is just as important as the care we provide to our patients every day.

If you would like to donate to this very special cause and cheer on the TVH Pawsitive Pushers, follow the link in our comments section below. 💛💛💛

We'll be sharing updates throughout the month, and we'd love your support as we join thousands of Australians to . ❤️

🐶🐶 Double the puppies, double the love 💛

Sunny & Teddy came in to see Dr Bronte and nurse Jayd for their 2nd puppy vaccination — although their family originally came looking for one puppy… somehow they left with two adorable siblings instead 🥹 Bless!

At 10 weeks old, these two were full of personality. They also received a full nose-to-tail health check… and judging by the photos, they were absolutely pooped afterwards 😂

During their consult, Dr Bronte discussed:
✨ Nutrition and slowly introducing new foods like steamed veggies
✨ Safe socialising while they grow
✨ Weight management for healthy joints
✨ Desexing options and timing
✨ PenHip X-rays and possible JPS surgery if ever required

We know bringing home puppies comes with lots of questions and concerns, and we’re always here to support you with the advice, care, and guidance needed to give your pups the best start in life 🐾

Sunny & Teddy have already popped back in multiple times since then just to say hello — receiving plenty of kisses and cuddles from our reception team each visit 💕 They seem bigger every single time we see them! We are so thankful to be part of their journey and can’t wait to watch these gorgeous siblings grow up together 🐶🐶

🐾 Meet Maggie 🐾

At just 4 months old, this gorgeous Labrador pup recently came in to see Dr Rob and Dr Jo—and she handled it all like an absolute superstar! 💛

Maggie first visited Dr Rob for her PennHIP radiographs. So, what does that mean? PennHIP is a specialised screening method used to assess a puppy’s hip joint laxity (looseness). It helps detect the risk of hip dysplasia early—often before any signs or symptoms appear. Catching this early gives us the best chance to take proactive steps for lifelong joint health.

Maggie’s results showed she would benefit from a procedure called JPS (Juvenile P***c Symphysiodesis), so she booked in with Dr Jo for surgery. JPS is a minimally invasive procedure performed in young puppies, typically under 5 months of age. It works by gently altering the growth of the pelvis so the hip sockets develop better coverage over the ball joint—helping to reduce the risk of painful hip dysplasia later in life. Timing is everything with this surgery, which is why early screening like PennHIP is so valuable!

We’re happy to report that Maggie was the BEST patient (seriously, 10/10 for cuddles and bravery 🐶✨). She recovered beautifully from her procedure and has now been cleared for walks—YAY! 🎉

Go Maggie! We can’t wait to see you out and about, living your best puppy life. 🐕💫

This is exactly why we always perform full body and health checks at every puppy consultation—so we can pick up on things early and give your pup the very best outlook on life. 💚

If you’re ever unsure or would like more information, our friendly client service team is always here to help—just give us a call and they can assist you with booking a consultation with one of our experienced vets. 📞

🐾 Meet Mischa 🐾

This handsome boy is Mischa, a 7-year-old Maine C**n tipping the scales at over 6.5kg—and yes, he’s just as big as he looks! 😻

Maine C**ns are known as one of the largest domestic cat breeds, famous for their:
✨ Impressive size and long, flowing coats
✨ Super friendly, dog-like personalities
✨ Tufted ears and big bushy tails
✨ Gentle, affectionate nature (they’re often called “gentle giants” for a reason!)

Mischa, one of our staff member’s beloved cats, recently popped in to see us for an irritated eye that needed a gentle flush and clean. Dr Tegan and Nurse Rach couldn’t get over his incredible size and length—he’s truly a majestic unit! 🐈‍⬛💫

Despite his big presence, Mischa was the bestest boy for his treatment, soaking up all the attention like a pro. Safe to say… we are all a little bit in love with him 💙

Give your gentle giants an extra cuddle from us🐾

🐾✨ Did you know we offer laparoscopic (keyhole) speys for female dogs right here in Tasmania?

This gorgeous girl is Mia, a 7-month-old Blue Australian Cattle Dog who recently visited Dr Jo and the team for her laparoscopic spey. She was an absolute superstar patient—and always had a smile ready for us 💕

We’re proud to be one of the only veterinary hospitals in Tasmania offering this advanced, minimally invasive procedure 💙

Using specialised cameras and instruments, laparoscopic speys involve tiny incisions rather than a traditional open surgery—meaning:
✔️ Smaller wounds
✔️ Less pain and tissue trauma
✔️ Faster, more comfortable recovery
✔️ Earlier return to normal activity

For many pets, this can mean a smoother experience and getting back to their happy, active selves much sooner 🐶✨

If you’d like to learn more about desexing options for your pet, we recommend chatting with your vet at your next consultation to find the best approach for your individual pet.

Thanks for trusting us with your pets’ care 🐾

🐾 Welcome back after the Easter break! We hope you and your furry family members had a relaxing long weekend 🐣💛

We’re back at it today—catching up on emails and returning phone calls—and lucky to have a little extra help from 13-year-old Jonny 🐾 One of our staff member’s much-loved dogs and a very familiar face around here! While he’s technically a “frequent flyer” at the vet, it’s not always for appointments… it’s 1000% for the treats, cuddles, and all the extra attention he can get 🐶✨

Just a quick heads-up: all of our hospitals are heavily booked this week following the long weekend. If your pet is due for vaccinations or a general health check, we recommend booking in for next week. Alternatively, you can give our friendly client service team a call and they’ll be happy to help find a suitable appointment time 📞

Thank you so much for your understanding and patience during this busy period — we truly appreciate it! 💙
