We are an all volunteer group of animal lovers that work non-stop to rescue unwanted and abandoned pets. We mostly take in strays or abandoned animals in and around the greater San Antonio area. All animals we take in live in foster homes or depending on the severity of their conditions at our partnered vet clinic. We provide all our dogs with any and all health care they may need, along with comf

ortable safe foster homes, and food needs. We survive solely on donations and the help of our volunteers. The more dogs we can take in means the less that will end up roaming the streets, with ACS, or being euthanized.

This post is a poignant reminder that every life has value, no matter what challenges we're facing. Meet our sweet, perfect Kitty, who's facing cancer head-on with a spirit that's inspiring us all. As we navigate this difficult time, we're focusing on the love and comfort that surrounds her. She'll always be our shining star, and we'd be grateful if you'd send some positive thoughts her way.

McTavish “Tavvy” is patiently waiting for his Furever family. This boy loves life and is smart as a whip. No matter where he is if he hears his name he comes running. We call him our Micro-Lab. So if you love Labs but can’t deal with the size McTavish is your boy. He’s going to be under 20 lbs at full growth. But he looks like a little yellow Labrador. And did we mention his underbite. My goodness he’ll steal your heart.

This face just screams “Adopt me I’m a good boy”. I mean he’s practically perfect. He likes kids ( 2 rambunctious little boys), cats, new people. Cooper is a 3 year old Lab/Great Dane mix(?). He was adopted before but unfortunately he ot loose one day and got hit by a car. He came out okay except he had a broken leg. His owner couldn’t afford the surgery so of course we took him back to make sure he got the help he needed. Despite all of our best efforts his leg didn’t heal quite right and he has a stiff knee. Despite all of that he gets around like a normal pup and isn’t in any pain. He is the best boy. Please share his pic so he can find his new Forever.

Thank you to the Good Samaritan who reached out. He’s visiting from Dallas and was walking his dog when this little guy yelled out from the woods. He ventured in and found him tied to a tree with a plastic bag. We are so full but we absolutely couldn’t leave him tied that way AND RIGHT BESIDE THE HIGHWAY! The city said they would be to get him in 2-3 days.

Meet Freeman. So grateful to be rescued he slathered me with kisses all the way back to the car. Then promptly fell asleep on the way to his fosters house. He was so exhausted.

PSA: When you adopt a dog they will not be perfect in the first 24 hours. Probably not even in the first week to be honest.

There world has been upended, turned around and dumped upside down. They are with people they have barely spent any time with. Their environment is completely different; new humans, new dogs, new smells. If they were sure of their place in their fosters pack they are literally starting over. If they are a puppy it’s even worse because they don’t have siblings or Mom any longer. If they were potty trained at their Fosters they will have accidents. If they were kennel trained they still are but that new environment is even scarier when you’re alone. They will cry sometimes a lot.

All of the above is absolutely normal behavior. The rescue hasnt lied to you about how prepared for adoption they are. Imagine being torn from your family and moved to a different country and placed into a family that doesnt speak your language. A culture you have no knowledge of. And then shipped home in the first few days because the new family was told you were a dutiful child but you havent been able to learn the language and you wont stop crying.

Your original family is always happy to take you back but you cant help feeling you are a disappointmentto them and when you get back everything is the same as you remember and your family still loves you but you cant help feeling youve been a failure to them. Youre a little sadder then just 3 days ago but youre safe.

Dogs have the mental capacity of a toddler. When adopting a dog please remember that and understand you will never adopt a perfect dog. They can become perfect for you with a lot of patience and understanding. Please give them the grace and patience to acclimate to their new normal.
