Good afternoon Castroville! We are seeking volunteers to help with the City’s TNR Program.

If you have a passion for animals and would like to help with our TNR program, we are in need of dedicated volunteers who can assist us with the Trapping process, or with transporting cats to and from the vet clinic. We would like to hold a Free TNR class depending on how much interest we receive. Class discussions will include:

-What TNR is and what it does for cat population management for Castroville.
-How to Humanly, and safely set traps for TNR.
-What our process for TNR is, where trapping can be done for cats that qualify, and what to expect as a TNR Trapper.

If you would like to sign up to be a volunteer TNR Trapper and to attend a class to learn about TNR and Trapping please call us at 830-931-5013 or 830-444-5542. Thank you!

Posting for a Good Samaritan that found a puppy and is currently safe with them in Castroville, Tx.

Looking to find a home for this little girl, “Cappuccino”. Estimated age 3-4 months old. Female. Good Samaritan reported she was dumped off of Lafayette St. by a large white pickup truck. They would like to hang on to her for now to keep her out of the shelter but cannot keep her very long. If you are interested in giving this sweet girl a home or have any information about her abandonment, please reach out to Animal Services of Castroville at 830-931-5013 or 830-444-5542 and we can get you in touch with the Good Samaritans or investigate further. Please share with all you know so we can get this girl into a loving home. Thank you!

Mosquito spraying to take place tomorrow 4/28/26. Please bring pets and kids indoors for duration of the spraying.

There are also a few things residents can do to help reduce the mosquito population in and around homes in addition to the spraying.

- Keep grass in yards neat and trimmed.

-Do periodic sweeps of property to ensure standing water is dumped out especially after it rains, and Reduce or discard items in yards which may collect standing water.

With your help, we can reduce the mosquito population, so we can enjoy this beautiful time of year outside a little more. Thank you!

Good Morning Castroville! The generosity of the people that volunteer their time and resources towards improving our City Shelter always inspires us. We are trying to get the shelter ready to start accepting volunteer help and one improvement we would like to have in place is 5 10’x10’ kennel spaces in order to make walks go smoothly and on beautiful days they can be left in the yards for a bit longer to get more outside enrichment.

The price for all 5 10’x 10’ outdoor kennels is $5000.00, and we are asking the community for help in raising these funds. If you are interested, here are ways to donate towards this cause, and help us save more lives.

-Bring your monetary donation to Castroville City Hall located at 1209 Fiorella St. Castroville, Tx 78009 and let the Clerk know it is for “The Castroville Shelter Project”.

-Call City Hall at 830-931-4070 and make a donation over the phone and let the Customer Service rep know it is for “The Castroville Shelter Project”.

If now is not the best time to make a donation that’s ok, we’d greatly appreciate your help by sharing this post and the project with people to let others know about it.

Every week we hope to update with good news of progress towards this goal, and cannot thank you enough for considering donating to help us save more lives!
