We are asking for sponsors for more low cost Spay/ Neuter Events!

Many of you are aware that we try to host Dragonfly Vet Services to come to the Castroville Regional Park and hold a low cost Spay/Neuter clinic. To date, we’ve held 4 successful events, and have one scheduled for August 25, 2026 sponsored by Castroville Nip & Tuck.

These events have helped many struggling Pet Parents get their Dogs and Cats fixed, preventing unwanted litters from entering the community and shelters. This is the single best way we can impact our area’s pet population problem.

Good afternoon Castroville,

We have taken the time to update Pet Registration for the City to be more efficient for our Animal Services Officers on to a new software system. Our goal with this update is to avoid needing to take pets unnecessarily to the Castroville Animal Shelter and improve returning pets home. We understand many people are not aware, but registering your dog, or cat is required by City Ordinance Chapter 14 Sec. 14-31.- Licensing of dogs and cats.

There are many benefits for registering like:

-Fast Reunification If Lost: A city tag acts as a second, immediate ID for your pet. If found, a neighbor can contact City Hall to identify you faster than with a microchip scan alone.

-Proof of Vaccination: To register, you must provide proof of a current rabies vaccine, helping ensure a healthy community.

-Evidence of Ownership: If your pet is stolen or there is a dispute, a city license proves you are the legal owner.

We encourage every dog or cat owners living within the city to visit the City web page on Pet Registration here: https://www.castrovilletx.gov/2685/Pet-Registration call Animal Services at 830-931-5013 or City Hall at 830-931-4070 for more information on the registration process.

We will have a transition period of contacting those who were already in compliance to move documentation over to the new software system so we can honor their Registration fees already paid. If you have already registered your pet, please contact us with your Name, Pet's name, and the tag number that was provided to you at registration, so we can add your pet into the new system.
