Allyson KPA-CTP has accumulated over 20 years of professional experience in animal care, veterinary medicine and the zoo industry. Her background includes working closely with a diverse range of mammals, birds and reptiles. Allyson further honed her training skills by completing the Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) course in 2022. Throughout the KPA CTP course, she gained hands-on experience and insight into working with shelter cats and dogs and helped prepare them for their future permanent homes.

Allyson is committed to ongoing professional development and education, especially in the ever-evolving world of animal behavior and science. She advocates for the principles of positive reinforcement when interacting with and educating both humans and animals. Allyson is a patient listener and assists pet owners to connect with and strengthen their new and existing animal bonds. Her expertise is versatile, extending to any species of animal!

Allyson is currently supporting our Daycation and Board and Train programs, with select availability for private clients on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

It takes a lot of treats to keep us going! Blackdog is currently looking for treat donations!

What we LOVE:
▪️High value treats - packages of hotdogs or string cheese
▪️ Full sized chews - bully sticks, yaks milk chews, dried fish skins, no-hides, collagen chews, etc
▪️Training treats - any small bite sized treat
▪️ Soft and chewy treats - these are great for our older and little guys
▪️Limited ingredient treats - these are great for our friends with allergies

Unfortunately at this time we cannot accept:
▪️ Spray cheese - we LOVE spray cheese here, so we already have more than enough!
▪️Bully ends
▪️Rawhide chews

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our new trainer Jen Shearer, CPDT-KA is joining us as Trainer/Site Manager of our partner location Farmhouse Pet Lodge Delaware . She will be spearheading our ongoing expansion of services in the Georgetown/Rehoboth beach area of Sussex County, supporting our core mission to increase access to positive reinforcement training resources throughout the state of Delaware!

Jen was a devoted cat person until she rescued her first dog, Della Rae. The two quickly became inseparable, and as a first-time dog owner, Jen failed to recognize that Della’s reactivity, fear of novel experiences, and hypervigilance foretold a lengthy training journey ahead.

Together, they plunged into the confusing and unregulated dog training industry and experienced both highs and lows. Della stumped many trainers, yet undeterred, Jen discovered her calling in mastering advanced behavior concepts and supporting behaviorally complex dogs.

Jen specializes in delivering a smooth and enjoyable learning experience for stressed-out guardians of dogs with "big feelings." Committed to empowering pet parents and demystifying the dog training industry, Jen draws on over 15 years of experience teaching dance to students of all ages to foster a holistic approach to family training and growth.

A warm welcome to Jen - we are SO lucky to have her!!!!
