😭 Puppies disgarded like trash in April in Oklahoma, but thankfully they were found and nursed back to health. They are alive because people stepped up in Oklahoma!

Now 7 of them have been cleared for travel and are on their way to Iowa! Could you open your heart and homes and foster these pups or others?

Donations have been arriving and we are still accepting new and gently used items up through Wednesday May 28th at three locations.

Simply place the donations by the garages at the following locations (weather permitting).

9177 NW Lakeridge Ln, Polk City, IA (close to Saylorville/Ankeny)
4215 125th Street, Urbandale, IA

Savannah is believed to be a one-year-old. 55 lb., Bulldog/Staffordshire Terrier mix with a heart as big as her goofy grin. This girl is ready to bring boundless love, laughter, and loyalty to her forever home. Foster Homes Needed for Adult Dogs and Cats too!

So many love to help puppies & kittens—and we’re so grateful for that! But, we need foster homes for adults too.

Adult animals deserve just as much love and care as the littles, but they often get overlooked.

Fiyero is pawsitively an amazing kitten who would love to join your family. He does great with other cats/kittens and a dog in the foster home.

Momma Bibi and her 5 kittens arrived into the care of Hope 03/24/2025 via Iowa Stars for Animals. Kittens were born approx 3/8/25. Momma is super sweet, social, and affectionate. She does great with other cats and is dog friendly.

Kittens: Glinda, Nessa, Boq, Fiyero, Elphie (as of 5/20 all other kittens have been adopted; Fiyero is the only one stillll waiting)

Adoption fee is $125.00/kitten which includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines/cares, and microchip. 2 kitten special $200.00

Fiyero is working on completing required rescue vetting and until that is done mid summer they are only eligible for adoption within 45 minutes of Des Moines to continue to complete. Adoptors are responsible for taking to and from appts including the neuter. Hope pays for thw cost of the neuter appt and there will be no rescheduling of the app

Secretary Mike Naig today announced Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has developed a handbook to support law enforcement agencies and county attorneys in responding to animal neglect cases. The Department will host a webinar on May 28 to introduce the resource.

Mika is very loveable once she warms up which happens fairly quickly after observing. Agile she is and still appreciates finding her way up high to supervise. She also likes to sunbathe by any door or window and can be opinionated about the cleanliness of her litter box (per previous owner). Of course! Cats want clean litter boxes choices.

Mika and another resident cat, Lily were a central Iowa surrender due to no fault of their own after the owner reported their circumstances changed and could no longer care for them and no family/friends could help. Mika is 16 yrs young. They came into rescue front declawed w/o reports of medical or behavioral concerns and had not seen a vet since 2022. They were said to be fine with other cats and smaller dogs. They were in a home with little children, but would likely appreciate a home w/o little children noise/activity. We are not considering them bonded as they are not exhibiting bonded behaviors. Lily has been adopted but Mika is still waiting to be.

Mika saw our vet partner in Urbandale and she does have stage 2 chronic renal disease in which we have her on a renal diet.
Cats with chronic kidney disease can now live longer, better lives than ever before with the right management and so we encourage the adoptor to educate themselves on the management.
