We are a progressive small animal practice located in West Des Moines, Iowa. Accredited through the We have a second location in Norwalk.

The hours for the Norwalk vet center are as follows:
Monday: 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Saturday 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM

We will delay opening our Norwalk clinic tomorrow to allow for our management and vet team to complete their bimonthly meeting. We will see you all after 2PM tomorrow!

We will be closed at the West Des Moines location on Wednesday, July 30th, to allow our team to work together at the Norwalk location, for our first day on general practice in our new building!! We are super excited to share our new space with you! Sneak peek in the photos!

Our calls will be answered by the Norwalk location, we will see you all Thursday!

We are SO excited to officially welcome Dr. Kate Siller to the Family Pet Veterinary Center team! 🎊

If you've been waiting to meet her, the wait is over-today is her first day seeing patients, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her incredible skills, compassionate care, and love for all creatures (especially Frenchies and pet pigs!) on board. 🐶🐷🐾

Dr. Kate brings with her a passion for surgery, internal medicine, exotic pets, and building strong connections with both animals and their people. We know you're going to love her as much as we already do!

🚨 HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AT 9PM 🚨
Temps are soaring and so is the risk of heat-related illness — especially for our furry friends! 🌡️🐾

☀️ Extra Caution for At-Risk Pets:
⚠️ Brachycephalic breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Shih Tzus)
⚠️ Dark-colored pets who absorb more heat
⚠️ Seniors, overweight animals, and those with underlying health issues

These pets are more vulnerable to overheating — limit outdoor time to quick potty breaks and always provide access to fresh water and cool spaces indoors.

💡 Beat the Heat: Boredom Busters for Indoor Dogs
🐶 Treat puzzles or stuffed Kongs (freeze for a longer challenge!)
🎾 Indoor games like hide and seek or gentle tug-of-war
🧠 Teach a new trick or practice obedience cues
