❤️ Cardiology – Helping pets with heart conditions live longer, healthier, tail-wagging lives. Dr. Bradley Harris, DACVIM (Cardiology) will be joining us and available for cardiology services starting the end of September.
👁 Ophthalmology – Keeping those puppy-dog eyes (and kitty stares) clear, bright, and comfortable. We're partnering with Animal Vision Center of Virginia to bring these services to VEST. Appointments are available now!

Your Acredale family just wanted to share a friendly PSA to help keep all members of the family safe this holiday because, while we're all hopefully enjoying BBQs and backyard fun this weekend, your pets might be thinking the sky is falling (again). Pesky sky booms! 🎇😫

Please:

🔸 Keep pets indoors -- fireworks are NOT their favorite soundtrack!
🔸 Skip sharing the hot dogs (even if they REALLY beg) 🌭❌
🔸 Microchip info up-to-date? You'd be surprised how fast a panicked fur baby can bolt. Updated contact information can help to make sure they get home to you sooner!

From all of us at Acredale Animal Hospital, we want to remind our amazing pet families that extreme heat can be dangerous—even deadly—for our four-legged friends.

As temps climb this week, please take a moment to review the photo guidelines we've posted below and follow these important tips:

✅ Walk early or late – Avoid midday heat and hot pavement
💧 Hydration is key – Always have fresh, cool water available
🚗 Never leave pets in parked cars – even with windows down/cracked
🌳 Provide shade and rest – Especially for seniors, short-nosed breeds, and puppies
⚠️ Know the signs of heatstroke – Heavy panting, drooling, vomiting, weakness, or collapse
