Columbia announces the CHJA Junior Council opportunity. The board of CHJA is acting on a suggestion by one of our junior members to design an opportunity for our junior members to become more involved in the planning and executing of our events. We are offering Junior Council opportunities to our youth ages 14-18 through an application process.

If you are interested in a position to learn how a board operates, have your voices heard, contribute to the development, planning and delivery of our horse shows, clinics and educational programs and to earn invaluable experience helping a non-profit organization this is a great opportunity for you! Volunteer hours will count towards Community Service requirement for college entrance resumes as well!

It was a wonderful celebration of our Year End Award winners on Sunday, March 16th! The event was held at the Ruby River Inn Hotel in downtown Spokane. We had a great turnout for the dinner and banquet. Many thanks to the CHJA board members, Ashley Bakker, Robin Bhatia, Alayna Caryl, Jessica Clayton, Stacie Howard and Kelsey McCarty. CHJA President, Pam Raymond gave a welcome address. It was such a special evening for our award winners. If you want to be part of this action don't hesitate to register your membership now and you and your horse(s) for the 2025 show season! All CHJA shows are qualifying shows for awards!

Fabulous Weekend for Columbia hosting a clinic with Rob Van Jacobs! The reviews are in and Rob was a hit! We will definitely be asking him back as his schedule allows later this year. Rob had such a dynamic way of encouraging and uplifting the riders and always putting the horses' welfare first! Thank you to our wonderful riders who braved snow, wind, rain and hail to ride with Rob! I hope if you have a video or photos, please post them here! I was under the weather (great timing!) so the team really came through with jump setting and clinic management. Thank you to Westar for a wonderful venue and arena preparation. Many thanks to ring crew Lois James, Robin Bhatia and Kelsey McCarty for their many contributions and hard work all weekend. If you have the chance to ride with Rob in the future, I highly recommend you do!

We very limited space remains available for Rob Jacobs on March 15th & 16th! The 2'3"-2'6" is full. Crossrails and 18"-2' have a couple spots each. 2'9"-3' has been split to accommodate the demand so we some room in the second group at that height. Please get your registration and deposit in to lock up your spot ASAP! As soon as we have our final numbers we will publish the schedule. Please when registering, use a laptop or PC device. The mobile option has a bug so it is not working successfully.

It’s a wrap on a wonderful first year of Columbia horse shows! We are so pleased that so many turned out to support our efforts! There are so many to thank starting with our hard working volunteers, parents, spouses and significant others, membership and board members! A special shout out to our three outstanding judges; Georgia Dillon, Lhanze Kohr and Sally Collins! We had entries from Washington, Idaho and Montana! Thank you to all of our sponsors, without whom this would not be possible! We will publish a special appreciation to our sponsors next week! A huge shoutout and all of our gratitude to show secretaries Alayna and Janie!! There are some exciting additions coming next year including a 2’-2’3” Derby!! We hope you enjoyed the year with us, whether you made it to one, two or three shows!! Much thanks to USHJA and WSHJA for helping us launch our 3 show series! We had over 133 entries over the three shows, about 65 hotdogs and hamburgers sold, 300 + waters consumed, the soft opening of the Rusty Stirrup consignment and tack shop, the addition of a loudspeaker system that could be heard in the warm-up area, bona fide announcers, we’re still perfecting the alignment of our timers for the jumpers and we went from about 50% online entries for the 1st show to 95% online entries for the final show!! You all rock! We have big plans for 2025 and stay tuned for reservation Information for the year end awards banquet! .

Being a judge gives Rob a unique advantage when coaching his students and helping them understand what the judge's expectations and perspectives are. He has competed on the east coast in USEF ‘A” and “AA” shows as far north as Pennsylvania and as far south as the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL. Sneak Peak....We will have our new venture The Rusty Stirrup at our show this weekend at Meadow View Farm, Spokane, WA. At future shows we will be accepting consignment articles if you have something to sell! This is a "soft launch" to test the waters! We will have an assortment of new and gently used items!

We are so excited to see everyone at the final Columbia Outreach show on Sept. 21st and 22nd! Online entries will be open until the 19th at noon. Post entries accepted until the class runs and Adds/Scratches accepted throughout the show.

The prizes are lovely again thanks to our wonderful sponsors and our association.

Reminder...we have open schooling on Sept. 20th. 10 AM - 4 PM
A signed release and a $35 fee is required. Haul in fee is waived.

We have arranged for offsite stabling 5 minutes away at the lovely Spokane Equestrian Center on Gibbs Road.

Important information for the Blue Skies Classic this weekend. To help with high temps we are moving our start time up to 7 AM on Saturday and Sunday! This will help us finish earlier. And to help with the comfort of horses, riders and spectators we will have two 65 ft. misting stations to cool us down! Hunt coats will be excused for all classes, including equitation! We plan to run a very efficient and fun show! We will be flexible and we have a beautiful new speaker system and digital laser timers for the jumpers! We can't wait to see you there.
