Thanks to so many of you who reached out to check on us. We are safe currently and able to shelter others. I had just brought a load of lumbar back for more XC building. Looked up and saw this. The start of the conflagration and disaster here in spokane 2 miles n of me and headed NE. Winds at 50 miles an hour whipped it into walls of flames that devoured neighborhoods. Including some boarding barns and farms. Fortunately everyone here knows level 3 GO NOW means NOW. 60000 plus evacuated.
The community came together and hauled horses from all places at risk. Some trotted down roads led from a car window till they could get to a spot to be loaded into a trailer. Some areas fireman and police opened doors and set them loose. Who knows what happened to those poor souls.
Our first responders, the pilots flying planes and helicopters to drop water and retardant have been beyond heroic. Neighbors brought plates of food for us to share. There are still great souls who join for the common good in a true disaster like this. Pray for rain and winds to die down here!

Again thanks to all who reach out and offer assistance or to check on us. Your kindness is welcome when it feels so out of control.

We still would love to add more competitors for our June Dressage show! If you would like to join please get your entires in asap for next weekend! This is a Level III Dressage show with qualifying opportunities for most USDF/USEF classes and excellent for any level of riders looking to receive feedback from top judges.
We have gone from four weekends of Dressage shows (hosted for 30 years) to three weekends in 2026. June of 2027 will be a single weekend show. Please let us know what you would like to see for Dressage shows at SSHF as these shows will only keep running with your interest and participation.

I want to thank our patient, knowledgeable FEI Eventing course directors, the crew at PRATONI that looked after us and my colleagues and new friends in the sport I met there. I was grateful to be awarded the Haller grant for education from USEA last winter as it allowed me to attend the FEI event judge level 2 transfer up course in Italy. Many thanks also to my patient colleagues and instructors who answer my texts and emails, questions during course walks and work together to find the right way to keep the sport going forward when we officiate. I was very dependent on gracious organizers across the USA who allowed me to attend and officiate at their events in various capacities as I worked to obtain the required prerequisites. It’s been a long journey from the early 80’s when I rode in my first USCTA events!
I am so fortunate to be able to host clinics, schooling events and USEF,USEA,FEI events at my own home while in turn welcoming apprentices and colleagues as they try to rise thru official levels in the sport. This last weekend here in Spokane was amazing and again so grateful for volunteers, staff, and officials who made it a special weekend for almost 300 competitors. This life is far beyond what I ever imagined and I feel blessed beyond measure.
