After a week of toxicities, foreign bodies, and enough emergency exploratory surgeries to make Dr. Joe question his life choices… we figured it was time for a Halloween announcement from all of us at Rusty!

The only thing scarier than Halloween this year is what our pets have managed to get their paws on

Chocolate? HIDE IT!
Human medications? HIDE IT!
Candy, wrappers, sugar-free gum, and anything remotely questionable? YOU ALREADY KNOW. HIDE YO EVERYTHING 😂

All jokes aside, Halloween can be a dangerous time for our four-legged troublemakers. Keep those treats and medications safely out of reach, and remember that if your pet gets into something they shouldn’t, don’t wait for symptoms to appear before calling your veterinarian!

Dr. Joe has done enough emergency surgery this week. Let’s give the man a break!

This big guy came in after seeming a little “off” for a few days. We decided to take some X-rays and discovered a GIANT abdominal mass

His family put their trust in our surgery team, so we got to work! During surgery, we discovered a massive splenic tumor that was actively bleeding. We successfully removed it, stopping the bleeding before it could turn into a life-threatening emergency

Not all splenic masses are malignant, and thankfully his pathology came back showing a giant hematoma, NOT cancer! The mass was completely removed, and surgery was curative!

Today, this handsome guy is back to running around his backyard, feeling like himself again... just a few pounds lighter!

This little fluff was carrying around more than just extra baggage

Measuring a whopping 15 cm x 10.5 cm (about the size of a VERY large grapefruit) and weighing just under ONE POUND, this mass had grown so large that she was dragging it along the ground

Enter Dr. Joe and the Rusty Ridge surgical crew!

Through careful removal, our team was able to remove the mass with clean and complete margins, giving this sweet girl a fresh start and a whole lot more freedom to move comfortably

No more dragging her mass on the ground- just a happier floof with a brighter future ahead!

This is why we do what we do. Every patient deserves the chance to live comfortably, and our crew goes the extra mile for the pets who depend on us

One big mass removed. One very happy ending.

VET TECH APPRECIATION WEEK: DAY 5!

🚨SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK OUR SUGAR LEVELS… BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN SPOILED ROTTEN🚨

Fresh banana bread? ☑️
Nothing Bundt Cakes? ☑️
An ICE CREAM BAR?! ☑️
Energy drinks and enough snacks to fuel an entire veterinary army? DOUBLE CHECK! ⚡💪🏻

Our incredible clients absolutely showered us with love today, and honestly, we’re not sure there are enough words, thank-you cards, or calories in the world to express just how grateful we are

Vet med can be exhausting, unpredictable, messy, and occasionally involve things we’d rather NOT discuss over lunch… but days like today remind us why we love what we do and who we do it for

To every client who brought something in, thought of us, or took a moment to show our team some appreciation: thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

VET TECH APPRECIATION WEEK: DAY 4!

Seriously, one of the BEST days we’ve had in a while! Our hearts (and our caffeine levels) are FULL!

Today was the perfect reminder of how lucky we are to have such an amazing team, incredible clients, and wonderful people supporting everything we do

Coffee to keep us focused and dialed in? CHECK. Because we all know Doc runs on caffeine and controlled chaos

Snacks delivered by one of our amazing families? CHECK. Nothing says “we appreciate you” quite like keeping the team fueled and ready to tackle whatever walks, crawls, or gets carried through our doors!

Personalized gifts? CHECK! We got to create something special for the people who trust us with their beloved family members, and we can’t wait for everyone to see them!

Then came the SURPRISE! Our favorite account manager, Megan at Chewy Health absolutely knocked it out of the park with a gift made just for our team and all of our exploratory and surgical adventures!

Exploring, investigating, and getting our surgery on! (It’s kinda our thing 😉)

Days like today remind us that veterinary medicine isn’t just about the medicine. It’s about the people, the teamwork, the relationships, the laughs, and the little moments that make the long days worth it 💙

Tech Appreciation Week: Day 3! 🎃

OH, WHAT A DAY IT WAS!!

Our amazing team got spoiled AGAIN today! One of our loving clients provided lunch for the entire team (because apparently we do need to eat between saving lives ), while another wonderful client traveled all the way from Ottawa just to deliver custom treats! Talk about going the extra mile!

And because veterinary medicine is just a little stressful sometimes, we squeezed in approximately 5 seconds of break time for some much-needed stress relief… Office Space style! 💥🎃

Between the food, treats, and therapeutic pumpkin demolition, our team was feeling pretty gourd about life!

A HUGE thank-you to our clients who continue to spoil our team and remind us just how much this community cares. Being locally owned means our relationships go far beyond the exam room, and we’re so grateful to have clients who treat our team like family

Today’s forecast: 100% chance of snuggles with a side of tacos!

Our amazing vet techs spend their days wrapping pets in cozy snuggle blankets, and making sure every patient feels safe and loved. So naturally, we’re returning the favor with a little blanket burrito energy and some taco-filled appreciation!

Because let’s taco ’bout it… our techs are nacho average team!

We couldn’t do what we do without these incredible humans who handle the cuddles, the chaos, the occasional spicy patient, and everything in between. They deserve all the snuggles, all the tacos, and maybe a margarita after clocking out!

Tacos in hand, blankets at the ready, and paws-itively the best team around! 💙

HAPPY NATIONAL VETERINARY TECHNICIAN WEEK! 💙

If you know Rusty Ridge, you know we don’t do anything halfway when it comes to celebrating our team!

Per usual Rusty Ridge fashion, each day brings a new gift, treat, or memory! Today’s kickoff included custom bags to hold all the goodies coming this week (wink, wink 👀), plus some much-needed instruments every tech can never have enough of! Add some extra treats, beverages, Bundt cakes, and homemade cinnamon rolls, and we had ourselves a party!

But beyond the gifts, we want our team to know just how much they mean to us. Our technicians are the hands that comfort scared patients, the eyes that catch the little details, and the hearts behind so much of the care our patients receive. They work hard, love deeply, and show up for our patients and clients every single day

Our team isn’t just a list of employees on a schedule - they’re our people, my team. Without corporate quotas or red tape telling us how to do things, we celebrate them our way and ensure the people caring for everyone else’s pets feel cared for
