Birds don’t have a diaphragm. Their entire respiratory system works differently than any other animal we treat 🦜🤯

Which means bird anesthesia? Completely different. We can actually keep a bird breathing through a separate airway during beak surgery — not through their throat at all.

Wild, right?

Birds are also masters at hiding when something is wrong. In the wild, showing weakness means becoming someone’s lunch 🌿 By the time you notice your bird is sick, they’ve usually been hiding it for a while.

Annual exams for your bird aren’t optional — they’re essential.

Drop a 🦜 if you have a bird at home!

Things you hear at the vet that would get you a very different look at your doctor’s office. 💀

“She pooped on me.”
“Can you hold his beard back?”
“Who’s got eyes on the ferret?”
“He bit me but he’s a sweetheart.”
“...there’s something in the hallway.”

Your guinea pig has 20 teeth — and not a single one ever stops growing 😱🐹

That tiny little face is hiding a LOT going on. Without enough Timothy hay to chew on every single day, those teeth can overgrow, angle inward, and actually stop your guinea pig from being able to eat.

The good news? Totally preventable.

Drop a 🐹 if you have a guinea pig at home — we want to meet them!

Real talk — has your dog ever spit out their heartworm pill and you weren’t 100% sure? Or you think you gave it last month but… maybe not?

You’re not a bad pet owner. You’re a human being. It happens to almost everyone.

The problem is that one missed dose is all it takes. Heartworm is carried by a single mosquito bite, it’s 100% preventable, and treatment — if it gets to that point — is expensive, hard on your dog, and not guaranteed.

In this week’s Fun Fact Friday, we’re talking about ProHeart 12: a single injection that covers your dog for an entire year. No monthly pills. No second-guessing. No “wait, did I?”

Watch the full video above and drop your questions in the comments.

Most animal hospitals aren’t required to meet any accreditation standard. Yours should be.

We’re AAHA accredited — which means we’re held to 900+ standards of care that most hospitals never have to think about.
