**COURTESY POST **
Meet Angus (Gus) — the Gentle Giant Looking for His Next Forever Heart
Angus came to us from Oakdale after a big life change. He was originally adopted in Santa Cruz and spent three wonderful years with his dad — a man who adored him more than words can describe. They were truly a bonded pair. Sadly, his dad passed away suddenly from brain cancer, and before arrangements could be made for Angus. With the loss, his dad’s mom had to relocate to a mobile home park where Angus exceeded the weight limit, and that’s how he found his way to us.
Angus is about 101 pounds, a handsome mix of Yellow Lab and Anatolian Shepherd. He may be a big boy, but he is truly a gentle giant. He gets along beautifully with other dogs, cats, ducks, farm animals, children, and people**. In his foster home he has shown a little food aggression, but he listens incredibly well and responds quickly to corrections.
Because of his past bond, Angus may thrive especially well with a male owner, but he’s open to anyone who will love him. He is fully housebroken and sleeps happily on his own bed — which is great, because he’d take up almost all of yours! He is said to be a total cuddly bear, and we can see that in him, though he’s still taking his time to fully open up. He truly misses his dad and is slowly learning to trust and connect again.
Angus would do best with someone who can give him an **active lifestyle** — a home with **land to roam**, or an owner who enjoys long morning and afternoon walks, or even someone who can take him to work for companionship throughout the day.
Overall, Angus is a sweet, loyal, good-natured dog who just wants a forever home full of love, stability, and companionship. Whoever opens their heart to him will be getting something incredibly special in return.
