Compassion Without Borders was founded in 2001 by Christi and Moncho Camblor . The focus of our organization is to alleviate the suffering of unwanted companion animals in Mexico and other low resource regions in the US through a multifaceted approach which includes international rescue efforts, extensive spay/neuter campaigns, humane euthanasia and humane education. Our board is made up of veteri

narians and professional animal advocates with decades of experience from around the country. We are staffed by nearly 100% volunteer labor – which means 100% of all donations can go directly toward our work!

As Make-a-Will Month comes to a close, we want to honor someone whose generosity has changed the lives of countless animals. ✨🐾

Before we had a shelter in the U.S., it was a long-held dream of ours to have a space of our own — a safe haven where rescued animals could heal and thrive. That dream became reality thanks to lifelong animal advocate Lisa Landey, whose generous bequest to the Center for Animal Protection & Education made Muttopia possible. CAPE, in turn, gifted a portion of Lisa’s bequest to CWOB, allowing us to purchase our shelter facility and create a space where both organizations could rescue, rehabilitate, and save animals in need.

Lisa’s legacy lives on in every wagging tail, every healed body, and every adoption story that begins at Muttopia.

Give a ❤️ if you think life is better with dogs!

It's National Dog Day and we want to celebrate the shelter dogs in our care who are currently waiting to enhance the lives of some lucky families!

We are so lucky to share space with these amazing creatures. They bring us laughs, love, and good times. Rescue dogs have a special place in our hearts because they also inspire us with their resiliency and capacity for love. We are so grateful to get to spend our days surrounded by dogs!

Our team is gearing up for another life-changing trip south of the border, and this one is extra special because some of the dogs joining us are survivors of the recent heartbreaking hoarding case in Ensenada.

These resilient pups have already overcome so much, and now they’re finally getting the second chance they deserve. Stay tuned and follow our page for live updates from the road, their arrival, and your chance to meet the adorable pups who will soon be part of our CWOB family.

Adoption Update: Morita ✨

Talk about moving on up! This sweet girl has come a long way from when we first met. Morita was one of the 300 dogs living in the hoarding house in Ensenada. 💔 When we rescued her, she was living in filthy conditions in a room that was full of so many dogs it was hard to walk through. [See the comments for a picture of her before.]

Today, Morita (Rita for short) is living in a beautiful home with a family that absolutely adores her. Her future is looking bright.

Thank you to all the people who helped us to bring happily ever afters to dogs like Morita. Hope is always possible! 💖🐾

Meximutt Monday: Sasha 💖

It's our favorite day of the week, and while this meximutt needs no introduction she is finally in full-health and available for adoption! 🎉

In case you haven't yet met, this wonderful girl, she’s sassy. She’s spunky. She's Sweet. She's spicy. She’s Sasha and she’s 5-pounds of pure personality. Say hello to this tiny queen. 👑 Sasha is a 5-year-old Yorkshire terrier mix who proves that you don’t need to be big to be the star of the show, and boy does Sasha love being a star. Like most superstars, she is one-of-a-kind in every way, including her special little gait. Sasha suffered a pelvic injury in the past which gives her a unique walk to go with her signature spikey hairdo. She is a lady of leisure and she never tires of hearing how spectacular she is. Sasha loves playing with toys, snuggling up on the couch, and bossing around other dogs (she gets along with other dogs, she just likes to make sure they all know she is the star of the show).

We love this girl!

❤ These Two ❤

Bosco and Daphne have been through so much, yet they’ve found comfort and joy in one another.

✨ Bosco endured terrible mistreatment, having both his ears and tail cut off in a way that was far from humane.

✨ Daphne survived two broken legs as a young pup in a shelter, and though one had to be amputated, she hasn’t let it slow her down.

Today, these two resilient souls are thriving—playing, loving, and living as carefree pups while they wait for homes of their own. 💖

Adoption Update: Bon Bon ✨

Sometimes it takes a while to get it just right, and this darling one-eyed French bulldog has finally found her perfect match. After being returned to the shelter twice due to no fault of her own, Bon Bon has found the home of her dreams. She is absolutely adored by her family, and she has a big twin to snort and grunt around with. 🐽🐾 Aren't these two just the cutest pair? Bon Bon is living her best life!

Logan is looking for his special someone! 🐶🩷

It's and sweet Logan has just gotten picked up to go to a foster home, but he is still patiently waiting for a home and family to call his own.

Logan is a very gentle and sweet guy. He gets along great with other dogs, enjoys car rides, walks great on a leash, and regularly gets an A+ on his weekly Out & Abouts in the community.

If you are looking for a true road dog and sidekick, Logan would love to fill the role.

🍾 New Adoption Center Officially Open🍾

We are thrilled to share some exciting news: we’ve officially opened the doors to our brand-new Muttopia Adoption Center, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

We have long wished to have a dedicated space for adoptions that is calm, quiet, and serene so that dogs can feel safe and secure as they meet their new families. 🏘️🐾 For rescue dogs, the shelter can be overwhelming, and it can be hard for them to show their true, wonderful selves.

The Muttopia Adoption Center proudly honors JP Novic, whose vision and generosity turned the dream of Muttopia into a haven for hope through a generous gift from the non-profit she founded, the Center for Center for Animal Protection & Education {CAPE}. We are also deeply grateful to all the volunteers who devoted countless hours, resources, and love to make this new facility a reality. ✨ Compassion is the answer!

👵🐾 Let's give some love to our seniors! 👴🐾

It's Senior Citizen Day and we sure love our senior dogs. They may creak a little when they stand up and squint to see in front of them, but they still got a lot of love and plenty of play in them. (Especially our girl Violeta. If it weren't for the greys in her hair, you'd think she was still a puppy!)

Our Boy Churro Needs Your Well Wishes 🐾⭐️

Churro arrived bone-thin, shut down, and blind. After weeks of nutrition, medical care, and gentle routines , he’s a different dog. Today he underwent eye surgery with our shelter medical team in hopes of restoring his vision ✨.

Found living in mud and filth, he’s now safe, healing, and surrounded by people who adore him. We’re all rooting for this sweet soul 🙏.

Huge thanks to our rescue partners at Patitas Callejeras in Mexicali for getting him to safety and into our care 💛. We love you, Churro—easier days ahead. Compassion is the answer.

Access to care saves lives! 🩺🐾

A few images from our monthly community veterinary wellness clinic this past weekend. ❤️

Our sweet patients received wellness checks, vaccinations, flea and tick treatments, and care for ongoing issues.

A big-hearted thank you to Petco Love for donating vaccines to our local wellness clinic. 💉❤️ Your generosity allows us to provide lifesaving vaccinations to pets, keeping them healthy and in the homes of the families that love them.
Accessible care means fewer animals end up in shelters simply because their families can't afford the care they need. The people who come to our clinics love their animals fiercely and we are so grateful to be part of their story.
