Matilde is 8 years 5 months-old and sponsored by: Alice Weigel. SNAP Cats rescued Matilde from Mozambique, Africa. Matilde is a very sweet kitty. She’ll greet you when you come in the room, and solicit pets until it’s enough. She is a Calico after all. Matilde gets along well with other cats or will fit in nicely as an only cat.

BTW: Please don't be afraid of FIV. It's nothing. Really. Slightly compromised immune system. That's it. Just like a FIV- cat, Matilde will live a long, healthy life if you take good care of her. Matilde's not aggressive toward other cats so there's no chance of her transmitting it.

If you’re interested in Matilde please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

WHITE CAT WEDNESDAY!

Coconut (a.k.a. Kookie Nut) is 5 years-old and sponsored by Stephanie Upton. SNAP Cats rescued Coconut from Bakersfield, CA, where he was going to be euthanized for being FIV+. Yes, that still happens today! Which is SO sad because Coconut is such a sweet, super friendly (kookie) cat that loves human attention. He’s the first kitty to greet you when you enter the room. Coconut can be combative with other cats, especially when there's wet food involved, but mellows a bit once he gets to know them. Coconut would be best as an only cat, but would probably be fine with an older cat that keeps to themselves. (And we learned the other day that he's a great mouser! One managed to get in here and Coconut didn't waste any time grabbing it.) That said, Coconut still needs to be an indoor-only cat.

BTW: Please don't be afraid of FIV. It's nothing. Really. Slightly compromised immune system. That's it. Just like a FIV- cat, Coconut will live a long, healthy life if you take good care of him.

If you're interested in Coconut please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks!

TWO FOR TUESDAY!

Kyle and Selina are 3 months 3 weeks-old and need sponsors! SNAP Cats rescued Kyle & Selina from San Francisco, CA. Honestly, their CH is barely noticeable. Maybe a slight wiggle in the hips. But that’s it. These two run and jump and climb and PLAY PLAY PLAY like regular kittens. And cute? OMG! They are the cutest, sweetest, friendliest kittens EVER! They love being held, which most kittens don’t. And love playing with each other all day. Since these two siblings are bonded they’ll need to be adopted together (kittens are like potato chips - you can’t just have one!).

Here's a link to a short video of them - https://youtu.be/Ynbw80vs2Ng
If you're interested in Kyle & Selina please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks!

BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

This is Kizme. She’s 14 years-old and diabetic. Here’s her (and my) story:

I was on vacation. Something I rarely get to do. Before leaving for in the windy city (Chicago), I contacted a Chicago rescue who was taking cats and dogs from the floods in Texas. I informed them that I could take a special needs cat back with me when I returned to SNAP Cats.

Crickets.

Not surprising.

SOP for most rescues. Not ours. But most.

Anyway, stay with me if you can: I mentioned my failed “can I help you?” attempt to our volunteer, Leigh, who once lived in Chicago and is familiar with local rescue groups. Leigh reached out to Justyna, founder of Felines of Chicago, a network that connects cats in need with rescues and fosters and other resources. Justyna reached out to Dominica, who runs Cat Care & Rescue in Chicago, who is known for pulling "hot mess" and euthanasia kitties from area shelters.

With me so far?

Dominica said, “Well, as a matter of fact, we have Kizme. Kizme was originally adopted from Humane Society of Saint Joseph County, Mishawaka, Indiana. But was recently found as a stray. Fortunately, Kizme has a chip. Unfortunately, when they contacted Kizme’s owner, the owner said that she no longer wanted Kizme, so she just put her outside.”

Like trash.

So Kizme ended up back at another Indiana shelter with a euthanasia deadline.

Dominica’s ask: “If you can take Kizme we’ll have room to save another special needs kitty.”

And the rest is history.

Thank you, Justyna and Dominca, for saving Kizme from euthanasia. And a big thank you to Leigh, for her time and effort in networking Kizme’s transfer to SNAP Cats!

Ross is 6 years 8 months-old and sponsored by Amber Wells. SNAP Cats rescued Ross from Fresno, CA. Ross is the sweetest cat ever! He's SO friendly with people, and most other cats. Only exception are cats who get in his face. Then he’s not so nice. Just defending himself. No stalking or aggressive behavior. Ross will fit in beautifully with a family who either has other cats or not.

Please don't be afraid of FIV. It's nothing. Really. Slightly compromised immune system. That's it. Just like a FIV- cat, Ross will live a long, healthy life if you take good care of him.

BTW: Ross is a Cherubim. It’s a breed of Ragamuffin. Look it up.

If you’re interested in Ross please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

WHITE CAT WEDNESDAY!

Frodo is 7 years 6 months-old and sponsored by Cathy Blackstone. SNAP Cats rescued Frodo from Dubai (UAE). Frodo is a big, smart, alpha street cat that lets everyone here know that he’s the boss. He follows human instructions/demands very well, though, sometimes acting more like a dog than a cat. Although we haven’t tried it yet, we think Frodo will do well on a leash (with harness). It might exhaust some of his relentless energy. With this in mind, Frodo would be a great “only” cat. Or, he’d do well with a senior female that minds her own business.

If you’re interested in Frodo please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks!

TWO FOR TUESDAY!

Samson & Delilah are 14 weeks-old and sponsored by Deborah Metzger. SNAP Cats rescued Samson & Delilah from San Francisco, CA. These two are LOVE BUGS! They are very outgoing, love to be held, snuggled, and sleep in your lap. Despite missing a portion of one of their back legs, these two get around just fine. They jump, climb and run up and down stairs like champs. They are fixed, up-to-date on vaccines (so far), and the sweetest, cutest couple we have (don’t tell the other kittens we said that). Samson & Delilah are a bonded pair, so you’d need to adopt them both.

If you’re interested in adopting Samson & Delilah please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

Ozzy is 10 months-old and sponsored by Wyeth Hunnable. SNAP Cats rescued Ozzy from San Jose, CA. Ozzy is the typical playful kitten. He loves to run and play with others, and LOVES the spring toy! Oh, and wet food. He LOVES the wet food! Despite his sunken eyes, Ozzy does see a little bit, which helps him navigate his environment.

Ozzy needs another kitten about his age to play with and continue to learn social skills from. And it just so happens that we have a few kittens who love to play with Ozzy.

If you’re interested in Ozzy (and another kitten) please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

Glenda is 10 months-old and spopnsored by Beverly Navara. SNAP Cats rescued Glenda from Fresno, CA. Glenda is the typical, playful kitten. She’s also a great lap kitten if you’re looking for that as well. Glenda is challenging Stanley here for the softest, floofiest fur ever! Since Glenda is still a kitten she’ll need another kitten about her age to play with and learn social skills from. Just so happens we have a few.

If you're interested in Glenda please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/adoption-process/. Thanks!

WHITE CAT WEDNESDAY!

Bea(utiful) is 4 years 1 month-old and sponsored by Leah Hennen. SNAP Cats rescued Bea from Oakland, CA. Bea does not have any special needs because she came to us bonded with her brother, Bertie, who is a dwarf kitty with ataxia. Once they were here for a while, the two de-bonded (is that a word?), and Bertie was adopted in November 2021.

Bea is the typical, playful cat who can’t seem to run out of energy. Bea LOVES to chase the spring toy. Keeps her entertained for hours. Bea will make a wonderful addition to any family who has a cat or two about her age. If you don't have a cat or two, we can also help with that!

If you’re interested in Bea please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

This is Shasta. He’s 3 months-old and FeLV+. Shasta was stuck in the wheel well of a car in Vallejo, CA. Hearing his cries, Corena managed to get him out and take him to VIP for an exam, vaccinations and combo test. That’s when Corena found out Shasta’s FeLV+. VIP recommended that Corena contact us…

And the rest is history.

It just so happens that we’ve been looking for a playmate for Biscuit, the 3 month-old FeLV+ kitten we recently rescued. So now Biscuit has a new “friend” in our FeLV+ Habitat.

Thank you, Corena, for getting Shasta out of trouble and here to SNAP Cats!

This is Momma Kitty (yes we are!). Not quite sure how old she is but she’s old enough to have a litter of kittens, which she did shortly after arriving at the Sutter Animal Services Authority in Yuba City (CA). According to the shelter, Momma Kitty has CH (cerebellar hypoplasia). And the shelter does not adopt-out CH cats. So Momma Kitty’s been on our waitlist for a while, but with the shelter nearing max capacity now, a decision had to be made. Momma Kitty was in jeopardy of being, well, you know. So the shelter reached out to us letting us know Momma Kitty’s situation…

And the rest is history.

Momma Kitty is arriving today at about 11:30 am. You can watch her arrival on our Kitten Room we**am at https://www.youtube.com//streams.

Thanks, Katie, for driving Momma Kitty here from Yuba City!

SNAP Cats is Dedicated to the Rescue and Care of Special Needs Cats.

Animal shelters around the world are full. The first cats to be killed are special needs, seniors and those deemed “unadoptable.” That’s unacceptable.

SNAP Cats is a unique rescue and sanctuary in Santa Rosa, CA (Sonoma County) dedicated to special needs cats. We rescue special needs cats from all around the world, house them, then find them warm, loving homes. We believe, if given time, that ALL cats can find the home that they deserve.

All of our SNAP Cats, regardless of health, age or temperament, are available for adoption or foster care. Those who are not adopted, due to age, illness or temperament, are able to live out the remainder of their natural lives here, in a peaceful, healthy, serene environment.
