Matilde is 8 years 9 months-old and sponsored by Alice Weigel. SNAP Cats rescued Matilde from Mozambique, Africa. Matilde is a very sweet kitty. She’ll greet you when you come in the room, and solicit pets until it’s enough. She is a Calico after all. Matilde gets along well with other cats or will fit in nicely as an only cat.

BTW: Please don't be afraid of FIV. It's nothing. Really. Slightly compromised immune system. That's it. Just like a FIV- cat, Matilde will live a long, healthy life if you take good care of her. Matilde's not aggressive toward other cats so there's no chance of her transmitting it.

If you’re interested in Matilde please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

WHITE CAT WEDNESDAY!

Ozzy II (because we already had an Ozzy) is 3 years 7 months-old and sponsored by Mayra Sanchez. SNAP Cats rescued Ozzy II from Doha, Qatar. Ozzy II is an absolute LOVE BUG! He can never get enough attention or pets. Ozzy II is great with other cats as long as they don’t get in his face. His left eye has been enucleated and should not cause any problems for the rest of his life. Ozzy II will fit into any household either as an only cat or as an addition to your cat family.

If you’re interested in adopting Ozzy II please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

TWO FOR TUESDAY!

Isa and Sage are 2 years 8 months-old and sponsored by Stefanie Kraus. SNAP Cats rescued Isa and Sage from Fresno, CA. These two are very sweet, affectionate kitties. They love attention, and will follow you around meowing for pets and rubs. Their ataxia is mild+. Their back ends sway side-to-side a bit when they walk/run. But Isa and Sage don’t fall or need any kind of assistance to get where they’re going, including atop cat tress, shelves and counters. Isa and Sage will make a wonderful addition to anyone looking for extremely affectionate, loving kitties!

Although we’d love to see Isa and Sage adopted together, they’re not bonded. So they can be adopted separately. But please adopt them together!

If you’re interested in Isa and Sage please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

A MIRACLE MAGGIE MONDAY!

Long story short: Maggie was sitting in West Valley shelter (Chatsworth, CA) on Orange Alert/Major Medical needing rescue before 4:00pm that day. She was underweight and could not use her back legs. At 3:45pm that day we received a desperate email begging us to save Maggie.

Maggie needed a miracle!

We pulled Maggie at 3:55 pm. Our network partners arranged transport, but it would be on Sunday, December 7th, the day of our Holiday Party, and that would be a bit too much for us with everything going on. So we arranged for Maggie to be dropped off at another rescue, where a few other rescues were heading. The new plan was to transport Maggie from that rescue to SNAP Cats on Wednesday, December 10.

But Maggie was not doing well at the temporary rescue – not eating, not drinking, barely moving around. The rescue’s ED was very concerned so she took Maggie to her vet for a full workup. Vet ruled out FIP, but was concerned about a few other things, so they sent blood out for analysis and started her on some meds.

In the meantime…

… I received an email from the ED asking if she could adopt Maggie. Wait, what? Seems 10 years ago the ED had a long-hair calico (calicos are Carol’s favorite!) named Maggie that also lost the use of her back legs. The ED had a cart made for (old) Maggie and she loved buzzing around in it. New Maggie reminded the ED so much of Old Maggie - her eyes, in particular, so it didn't take long for the ED to fall in love with New Maggie.

Maggie was officially adopted this past Saturday, December 13.

Sometimes things are just meant to be.

Thank you to rescue network partners, Janet and Kathy, for pulling Maggie and arranging transport. And thank you the the rescue and ED for giving Maggie a warm, loving home for the Holidays!

BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

Ozzy is 1 year 3 months-old and sponsored by Wyeth Hunnable. SNAP Cats rescued Ozzy from San Jose, CA. Ozzy is the typical playful cat. He loves to run and play with others, and LOVES the spring toy! Oh, and wet food. He LOVES the wet food! Despite his sunken eyes, Ozzy does see a little bit, which helps him navigate his environment.

Ozzy needs another cat about his age to play with. And it just so happens that we have a few cats who love to play with Ozzy.

If you’re interested in Ozzy (and another cat) please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

IT'S JUNE IN DECEMBER!

June is 1 year 7 months-old and sponsored by Leigh Behrens. SNAP Cats rescued June from Sacramento, CA. June is a very sweet kitty, EXTREMELY playful (never stops!), LOVES (human) attention, and is fairly independent, so June could be an only kitty, or she’ll fit in nicely with your resident cat(s).

If you’re interested in June please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

WHITE CAT WEDNESDAY!

Yes, she's still here! Bea(utiful) is 4 years 6 months-old and sponsored by Leah Hennen. SNAP Cats rescued Bea from Oakland, CA. Bea does not have any special needs because she came to us bonded with her brother, Bertie, who is a dwarf kitty with ataxia. Once they were here for a while, the two de-bonded (is that a word?), and Bertie was adopted in November 2021.

Bea is the typical, playful cat who can’t seem to run out of energy. Bea LOVES to chase the spring toy. Keeps her entertained for hours. Bea will make a wonderful addition to any family who has a cat or two about her age. If you don't have a cat or two, we can also help with that!

If you’re interested in Bea please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

TWO FOR TUESDAY!

Samson & Delilah are 9 months-old and need a sponsor! SNAP Cats rescued Samson & Delilah from San Francisco, CA. Yes, these two AGAIN because we can't believe they're still here! Samson and Delilah are LOVE BUGS! They are very outgoing, love to be held, snuggled, and sleep in your lap. Despite missing a portion of one of their back legs, these two get around just fine. They jump, climb and run up and down stairs like champs. They are fixed, up-to-date on vaccines (so far), and the sweetest, cutest couple we have (don’t tell the other kittens we said that). Samson & Delilah are a bonded pair, so you’d need to adopt them both.

If you’re interested in adopting Samson & Delilah please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

This is Snowcone. She’s about 7 months-old and FeLV+. Our Board member, Nicole, was contacted by someone who found a very sick kitten. It turned out Snowcone had FIP. And, on top of that, FeLV. Nicole took Snowcone and started treating her for FIP.

As SNAP Cats is on the forefront of FIP research and treatment (thanks to Nicole), we’re taking Snowcone to collect more data and research on FeLV+ and FIV+ kittens who’re treated for FIP. We’re hoping that Snowcone (and other FeLV+ kittens) will be a great teaching moment about FeLV and FIP.

Thank you, Nicole, for rescuing and treating Snowcone for FIP. And thank you for bringing her up here to SNAP Cats just in time for our Holiday party!

SASSY SASHA!

Sasha’s 1 year 2 months-old and sponsored by Robin Texeira. SNAP Cats rescued Sasha from Solano County, CA. Sasha’s a very sweet, gentle kitten. She loves attention and being held (for a while, then not so much). Sasha’s going to be on the petite side when full-grown, but there’s still a lot of her to love. Sasha gets along great with the other kitties and uses the box 100% of the time.

If you’re interested in Sasha please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/category/adoption/catsforadoption/. Thanks.

SNAP Cats is Dedicated to the Rescue and Care of Special Needs Cats.

Animal shelters around the world are full. The first cats to be killed are special needs, seniors and those deemed “unadoptable.” That’s unacceptable.

SNAP Cats is a unique rescue and sanctuary in Santa Rosa, CA (Sonoma County) dedicated to special needs cats. We rescue special needs cats from all around the world, house them, then find them warm, loving homes. We believe, if given time, that ALL cats can find the home that they deserve.

All of our SNAP Cats, regardless of health, age or temperament, are available for adoption or foster care. Those who are not adopted, due to age, illness or temperament, are able to live out the remainder of their natural lives here, in a peaceful, healthy, serene environment.
