Our sweet buddy Sheldon enjoyed a calm and comforting acupuncture session today, made even better by the expert teamwork of Dr. Montague, Rebecca, and Meagan (plus a little cheesy motivation!). Dr. Montague can be seen here leading the treatment, Rebecca offering calm support, and Meagan making sure the cheese kept flowing.

Acupuncture can be incredibly beneficial for pets managing pain, arthritis, neurological issues, or recovering from surgery. With the right support and environment, pets like Sheldon can experience real relief without stress.

Happy World Lizard Day 🦎 to Herman and all the amazing reptilian companions who’ve slinked their way into our hearts!

Today we’re spotlighting Herman, a juvenile Asian water monitor, who came in for a torn nail recently. Dr. Thompson cleaned the area and patched him right up! Herman also got a nail trim while under Dr. Thompson's care.

Asian water monitors are a species that grows to 4–6 feet long and can weigh up to 90 pounds. That’s right...Herman’s still growing! These incredible lizards are the second largest lizard in the world, just behind the Komodo dragon.

While they're undeniably cool, these pets require serious commitment, space, and expertise. We’re always excited to see well-cared-for exotics like Herman and proud to support their health with specialized veterinary care.

Shoutout to all the passionate reptile owners out there and the slinky, sun-loving lizards they care for!

Happy International Cat Day!

Today, we celebrate the cats who reign over our homes, hearts, and vet clinic exam rooms (often from the highest shelf possible). We’re lucky to care for some of the most curious, cuddly, and occasionally opinionated cats in Roseville 😉, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

This collage is just a glimpse of the whiskered wonders who’ve brightened our days. From blanket burrowers to laser-chasing legends, regal seniors to curious little climbers, it’s no secret: cats leave a lasting paw print on our hearts.

Show your cat some extra love today (and every day)... and maybe an extra treat or two!

Dr. Thompson’s daughter, Dylan, recently joined the team for a day full of firsts, and she was an absolute natural.

From watching Dr. Thompson and Dr. Montague take part in some pretty fascinating procedures to spreading smiles throughout the clinic, Dylan proudly stepped into her role as Veterinarian in Training.

Her excitement was contagious. She came ready to learn, ask great questions, and soak up every detail of what it means to care for animals with compassion. It’s safe to say that Blue Oaks has a future vet in the making, and we’re here for it!

Let’s give Dylan a big round of applause in the comments and show her some love on her very first big day at Blue Oaks.

Echo, an adorable 7-year-old Scottish Fold, was recently in for some urinary concerns. She wasn’t quite ready for the spotlight, and that’s okay. ❤️ With stress-free veterinary care, we work on your pet’s schedule, not ours.

When Echo was ready, she flashed those beautiful eyes of hers, and we were right there to help her feel safe, seen, and supported.

Here's are some of the ways we work to make your cat's visit with us stress-free.

🧺 Pheromone-infused towels to help soothe nerves
🐾 Dedicated cat exam room with attached quiet ward

🍗 Tasty treats to build trust and positive associations
🤫 Low voices and gentle handling by trained staff

🎬 Welcome back for Part 2 of Levi’s wellness visit with Dr. Thompson!

🔙 Didn't catch the start of Levi’s wellness exam? Scroll back to last week’s post to watch Part 1!

If you missed Part 1, we’re giving you an inside look at what you can expect during your pet's wellness exam!

🗓️ Wellness visits every 6 months help us stay ahead of illness, monitor changes as your pet grows, and provide personalized guidance tailored to their lifestyle.

Pets may not be able to tell you when something's wrong, but regular care helps ensure they stay happy and healthy for years to come.

🎥 What does a wellness exam really look like at Blue Oaks?

Take a behind-the-scenes look as Dr. Thompson walks through a visit with her 6-month-old puppy, Levi. You'll see how we deliver preventive care in a stress-free environment with gentle handling, trust-building, and of course... treats!

Wellness visits are more than just a check-up. They help us:
✔️ Catch early signs of illness
✔️ Monitor changes as your pet ages
✔️ Offer guidance on diet, behavior, & lifestyle
✔️ Create positive experiences so pets feel safe every visit

We recommend wellness visits every 6 months to keep your pet happy and healthy. Even if your pet seems fine at home, dogs and cats are masters at hiding pain or illness. Regular checkups help us catch subtle changes early before they become serious.

🎉 Stay tuned! Part 2 drops next Tuesday! You won’t want to miss what’s next in Levi’s visit!

Knox might be just shy of 200 pounds, but he’s all heart and a whole lot of drool! This gentle giant had us all laughing as he mirrored Vanessa’s poses and shook his head with full commitment during his ear cleaning. Slobber? Everywhere. Spirits? Through the roof.

☹️ How do you know if your dog's ears are bothering them?
Dogs with dirty or inflamed ears may scratch, shake their heads, or rub their faces on the floor. Odor is another sign that it may be time to schedule an appointment.

🏖️ During warmer weather, it is SO important to clean your dog's ears soon after being in the water (pools or natural bodies of water) to prevent infection. Please consult your veterinarian before putting anything in your pets’ ears.

We absolutely love caring for the biggest personalities (and paws) in Roseville!
