Good morning!

We need your help!

The hospital signed up for a contest to win a $50,000 "marketing makeover" from a team of local Sacramento marketing and advertising experts. Guess what: we made the final cut!

Now we need your votes in order to win the contest. You can vote by clicking the following link, choosing Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital, then clicking the "Vote" button:

http://marketingmakeover.net/contestants/

The more votes we get, the better, so please share with friends and family if you do not mind.

Winning this contest would be a huge help for the hospital. We are veterinarians - not marketing experts - and we constantly struggle with how best to present the excellent work that we do and how to show the ways in which we differ from other local vets. We could never afford this kind of assistance if we had to pay for it, but we can certainly use the assistance.

Thank you in advance for your help and have a great weekend!

Katrina

Boy is it hot!

While most of us are hiding out in our air conditioned houses or a pool, it is critical to pay attention to the temperature of your furry friends. Heat stroke can happen quickly and can affect pets even if they are used to being outside. The best thing is to bring pets inside to an air conditioned area during extreme heat. If this is not possible, be sure they have plenty of cool drinking water, consider using misters or wet down their coats periodically, and provide access to shade. Do not exercise your pets during the hottest parts of the day: shoot for early morning or late evening when temperatures are lower, take it at a slower pace, and watch for signs of overheating, such as excessive panting, shade-seeking, reluctance to continue, or anxiety.

Heat stroke can be life threatening and may involve expensive emergency measures. An ounce of prevention through close monitoring or a cool environment can save you and your pet from trouble.

Stay cool and enjoy the nice(!) weather!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and is ready for the joys of spring!

Warmer weather brings rattlesnakes for many of us. Be sure to keep a watchful eye on your furry friends. (If you are interested, talk to me about rattlesnake vaccine.)
