At Saint Francis Service Dogs, we see firsthand how these incredible dogs create greater independence, confidence, and connection for the people they serve. Wishing you all a happy, safe, and peaceful Fourth of July from all of us at Saint Francis Service Dogs!

As you celebrate today, remember that fireworks can be stressful and confusing for dogs! Here are a few tips to help make it a little easier on them!

Keep dogs indoors in a secure, familiar space.

Close windows and turn on soothing sounds to help cover the noise.

Offer a favorite toy or enrichment activity to help them relax.

Double-check that collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date.

Leave your dog at home if you’re attending a fireworks display.

It's HOT out there! As we ride out this summer heat wave, we are taking extra care to keep all our Saint Francis Service Dogs in training safe, cool, and happy!

Here are a few simple ways to help keep your pets safe in this heat:

Always provide plenty of fresh, clean water and limit outdoor time, especially during the hottest parts of the day. Remember that hot pavement can easily burn sensitive paws!

Keep a close eye out for these signs of heat stroke, a veterinary emergency.

• Excessive panting or drooling
• Vomiting
• Feeling hot to the touch
• Weakness or loss of coordination

If you notice any of these signs, move your pet to a cool, shaded or air-conditioned area immediately. Wet their body and paws with cool (not ice-cold) water, place them in front of a fan if possible, and contact your veterinarian right away.

Things are looking pretty spiffy around Saint Francis thanks to the generosity of the team from IFA Wealth! They recently spent the day volunteering their time to paint fences and landscape our beautiful grounds. We can't thank them enough for supporting Saint Francis Service Dogs! It was a great day!

Also, a big shout out to Hot Shot Pressure Washing for donating their time to clean up our building and sidewalks and surfaces around the Memorial Garden and Pond. We appreciate all your hard work!

The funds raised through Barks ‘n Rec are already being put to work transforming the lives of children and adults with disabilities. Thank you for helping us make life-changing partnerships.
