Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
The doggies were snoring
And couldn't be roused.

The stockings that hung
By the chimney with care
Were chewed up in pieces
Some here and some there.

The puppers were nestled
All snug in their beds
While visions of walkies
Danced in their head

I kicked off my shoes
And pulled off my cap
Finally settled down
After cleaning up crap

When out on the lawn
There arose such a clatter
I threw open the door
To see what was the matter

The dogs heard it too
And jumped up with a holler
They bolted past me outside
- I had just missed their collar

But what to my wondering eyes would appear?
Santa, his sleigh
And my dogs chasing reindeer!

Although I called them
They never came
Santa whistled and shouted
and cursed me by name!

The sleigh rose in the air
The dogs had to give up
The reindeer out raced them
Even the pup!

I heard him exclaim
As he rode out of sight
"Merry Christmas only happens
When your dogs are trained right!"

Adolescent dogs are some of the most challenging for their parents (much like teenage kids).
During adolescence, the prefrontal cortex (the part of the brain responsible for impulse control, decision-making, and focus) is still under developing. Meanwhile, the amygdala (in charge of emotions and reactivity) is fully functional. This imbalance often results in erratic behavior, such as sudden fearfulness, sudden onset aggression, overexcitement, or difficulty listening.
