I absolutely adore Corgis. They’re pushy, they’re smart, they’re versatile, etc. But they need to be worked. Just because they have little legs doesn’t mean they are couch potatoes. They are meant to be herding dogs and they excel when they are mentally and physically fulfilled. Do you have a Corgi? 🐶

Seriously. If you only “hike” on the weekends, you need to be serious with yourself and stay away from power breeds and the herding dogs. Labrador Retrievers still need exercise and training but they’re popular for a reason.

‼️ SAFETY TIPS FOR YOUR DOGS TODAY 🎆

1) Leave your pets at home for 4th festivities. It’s hot. There’s unpredictable things happening today. They don’t enjoy the fireworks like we do. They’ll be fine sitting this one out.

2) Put collars with ID tags on if you have them. You never know if they’ll slip out of your front door or yard.

3) If your dog is really nervous tonight, even if you own a backyard, take them out to potty on a leash. If you’re in an apartment, make a slip lead out of your leash and it doesn’t hurt to add another backup leash.

4) Dont over do it on the BBQ treats today. Also remember, cooked bones splinter so don’t give rib bones, chicken bones to your dog as treats. Just stick with plain hamburger and hot dog pieces if you must treat them.

5) Crates are a great place to put your dog tonight if they are nervous. Add a thin sheet as a cover if it helps your dog settle.

6) Leashes are the most underused tool; use them today if you have guests going in and out of your home and keep your dog tethered to you especially if they don’t have recall.

7) TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR DOG RIGHT NOW. Front and side pictures in good light. Try to make sure it’s a clear photo. It’s important to have a recent photo of them just in case they do go missing.
