Dogs come in all shapes, sizes, personalities, and temperaments. Some are calm. Some are reactive. Some are sensitive, stubborn, goofy, independent, intense, or a little bit of everything in between. And that’s what makes them who they are.

A little reminder to stop outsourcing the idea of the “perfect dog.” I call it the cupcake dog. The perfectly behaved, perfectly neutral, perfectly obedient dog that fits neatly into the box we’ve decided they should fit into.
Because here’s the thing: your dog isn’t supposed to be perfect.

We all have different fingerprints, and every dog has a completely unique nose print. There is no one-size-fits-all version of what a dog should be.
Instead of constantly trying to mold your dog into the version you imagined, learn who they actually are. Understand their personality. Respect their differences. Work together through the things that are difficult.

Training isn’t about changing everything that makes your dog YOUR dog.
It’s about learning how to communicate, building trust, and finding a way to live well and coexist together.

Love each other for who you are, not for the versions of each other you wish you could create. 🫶🏼✨

Mongo has rough spots with proper greetings, leash manners and being a gentle giant!

Felix is a high anxiety dog that has patterns of high Seperation anxiety from his Mom!

Waffles is a very spooky girl in new environments!

Remember Training is about learning how to communicate, build trust, and find a way to coexist together in harmony! ☺️

🚨 EVACUATION NOTICE 🚨

Due to the fire getting dangerously close to our area, we have evacuated and are currently unable to conduct training sessions until it is safe to return.

If you or someone you know needs help evacuating animals, please reach out. I have my dog van with a few extra kennels and will do my best to assist with animal transportation when possible.

Our community needs your help. ‼️‼️

A local family is going through something no dog owner ever wants to experience. Their sweet boy is only 1 year old, and during what should have been a normal play date, he suddenly yelped in pain. By the next morning, he had completely lost the use of his back legs.

Right now, the only way to determine what’s causing his paralysis and whether treatment or surgery can help is with an MRI. The funds being raised will go directly toward one MRI appointment, giving his veterinary team the answers they need to move forward.

His family has done everything they can, but they’re now at a point where they need the support of their community.

If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, or even just share this post, you could help give this young dog a chance at getting the care he desperately needs.

We never expect something like this to happen, especially to a healthy, playful 1 year old dog. Sometimes the greatest act of kindness is simply helping a family find answers.

Structure is often misunderstood as limitation, but for dogs, it is clarity. It answers the questions they are constantly asking. Who leads. What is expected. Where do I fit in this world..?

When a dog has structure, their nervous system can settle. They are not guessing, not overthinking, not trying to take control of situations they were never meant to handle. That is where anxiety, reactivity, and confusion begin to fade.

True leadership is not about control. It is about guidance, consistency, and creating a predictable environment your dog can trust. Boundaries are not punishment. They are communication!

A well structured life builds confidence, stability, and a deeper relationship between you and your dog. 🙌🏼🐕

Today, I said goodbye to a soul who changed the course of my life — Axe. For the past three and a half years, I had the honor of working with him, earning his trust, and walking beside him through some of his most challenging battles. Axe faced serious human and dog aggression, but in time, he let me in. He taught me patience, resilience, and the quiet strength that comes from mutual respect.

There are dogs that come into your life and shift something deep within you — Axe was one of them. Our bond was rare, the kind that doesn’t come around often, and when it does, it stays with you forever.

To Vicki & Tim— thank you. Thank you for believing in me when not many would. Your trust in my work and your unwavering commitment to Axe gave me the confidence to grow into the trainer I am today. The path we walked together has shaped not just my career, but my heart.

Axe, I will remember you with gratitude, with love, and with a profound respect for all that you were. You’ll always be one of the greats in my story.

I am delighted to share significant news regarding Simple K-9. After careful consideration, I am thrilled to announce that I am moving operations to a new state. As I embark on this new chapter, I am confident that this move will allow me to enhance my services while expanding my reach.

My journey has been shaped by the unwavering support of my incredible clients and I want to extend my sincere gratitude to each one of you for contributing to Simple K-9’s success.

    •   The last day of operations at my current location (Northern Nevada) will be April 1st, 2024.
