Many dog owners think a porcupine “sting” is just a temporary pain, but the danger doesn’t end at the initial quill.
Quills can migrate over time, break, or go undetected in tissue. In one dramatic case, a dog’s quill traveled into the chest cavity, punctured a lung, and came perilously close to the heart.
