Meet Xhara, a one-year-old Cane Corso who is hoping this is the summer she finally finds her perfect match.

Xhara first came to Animal Friends as a puppy through a Humane Investigations case with the City of Pittsburgh. Now, nearly a year later, she’s back with us after her previous family was unable to keep her. Through it all, this sweet girl has continued to show us just how special she is.

Xhara can be a little shy and sensitive when meeting new people, but once she knows you and feels comfortable, her happy personality comes shining through! She loves her people and may even greet her favorite friends with an enthusiastic jump to say, “I’m so excited to see you!”

As a Cane Corso, Xhara is a strong and powerful girl who needs an adopter with previous Cane Corso or guardian-breed experience. She’s looking for an adult-only home where her people understand her signals, respect her boundaries and can confidently manage a pup of her size.

Xhara may also be able to live with another dog, pending a successful meet and greet.

Meet Maru, she is available for adoption through Animal Friends H2H Rehoming adoption program.

At Animal Friends, we believe the best place for a pet is with a loving family. Our H2H Rehoming program offers an alternative to surrendering by allowing families to actively participate in rehoming their pets.

Maru is a Shiba Inu adopted in March 2026. She weighs about 15 pounds, so she's a small-to-medium breed. She is fully potty trained and up to date on all vaccinations. She is currently NOT spayed.

She is friendly around other dogs and happily plays well with our four-year-old son. She acts well around small children and enjoys playing fetch, tug-of-war, etc., and thoroughly enjoys nature walks and has had good experiences at dog parks and beaches outside of our hometown. She is easy-going when taking her to new places and charismatic around new people.

Rodeo Dog

For dogs 6 months or older that are both people and dog friendly. Dogs should be comfortable and non-reactive in a group class setting.

The purpose of Rodeo Dog is to form a bond (teamwork) with your dog and compete in a safe environment. The dog enjoys moving around barrels and the owners find it challenging to decide the best way to work the dog. The team starts at an easy level and works their way to more challenging levels. This is an OUTDOOR class.

Meet Stella, she is available for adoption through Animal Friends H2H Rehoming adoption program.

Stella is the sweetest, goofiest girl. She's right around 42 pounds now at almost 1.5 years old. Stella's favorite thing is to cuddle; she definitely thinks she is a lap dog!

She is doing good with training, having passed an elementary manners group class at Success Just Clicks. She is very good with sit, down, and not eating food or going through our doors without us saying "Break!" She is definitely starting to calm down but still gets the zoomies pretty often.

The reason we're looking to rehome Stella is because she does not get along with our cats that we've had for six years, and I would not let her go to a home with cats. We live in an apartment so dividing up our small living space is just causing a lot of stress for our cats and that isn't fair.

Stella is completely house trained and sleeps in a crate in our bedroom at night, but she does have some separation anxiety when left alone in the crate.

We think she would probably do amazing if able to roam your whole house or if she had a doggy companion (she LOVES playing with other dogs but she can sometimes be overwhelming for some dogs).
