This will be the first time since the report was created that this number will cease to be collected, calculated, and published. This is significant because it has been projected approximately 4 million people will be impacted by the cuts to food assistance in the next 10 years. That only consider people already receiving assistance, not those who may need it in the future or ongoing increase of food costs. We need to know what food insecurity looks likes where we live so we can do what we can to help them.
The move strips the government of its main gauge of hunger in America, and will impede efforts to track the impact of aid cuts.
