Homeless Cat Management Team

Homeless Cat Management Team The Homeless Cat Management Team works to humanely reduce the population growth of homeless cats thro We do not provide relocation or adoption services.

Our program focuses on Community Cat, (otherwise commonly known as feral and stray) Colonies, and friendly kitties rescued from these colonies to be placed into loving homes. Responsible "Outside" cats caretakers must provide food, water, shelter and veterinary care when necessary, to the felines they feed. We do not operate an animal shelter. Our high volume spay/neuter clinics include the follow

ing:
Spay/neuter surgery for cats and kittens (This includes a preventative antibiotic, anesthetic and IV pain medication). Rabies vaccination for all cats over three months of age. This service is included in the Feral Cat Package. Rescue cats will incur an additional $8.00 charge for this service to defray our cost. Frontline treatment for fleas, grooming to remove fleas, ticks, ear mites, matted fur, etc. Mandatory left ear-tipping for spayed/neutered feral cats being re-released, for ease of recognition

The best father figures teach us kindness isn’t a weakness and that fixing a problem at the source matters.

Did you know that one unneutered male can father 100s of kittens in his lifetime. Neutering stops the cycle, stops suffering, and is an ultimate act of kindness.

This weekend we took in a couple of very sick kittens who are way too young to be fighting this hard.

You can honor the father figure in your life by making a donation to help these sick kittens and get others neutered, stopping the cycle of suffering.

Feral cats must arrive in a standard humane box trap (Havahart, Safe-guard, Tomahawk, Tru-Catch, etc.) for the safety of all involved.
Pet and owned cats can arrive in carriers, one cat per carrier. They will be placed back in their carrier or trap for recovery after surgery.

🐾 🐾 FERAL vs PET CAT (please read!) 🐾 🐾
HCMT treats both feral cats and pet/rescue cats.
- A FERAL is a cat that will be returned to the outdoor location where it was trapped after surgery and WILL receive a mandatory ear tip.
- A PET is a cat that either has been or will be adopted as a pet after surgery.
- ONLY FERAL cats are eligible for No-Charge clinics.
- Both feral and pet cats can be treated at Fast Track Clinics.
- FAST TRACK CLINICS are for any cat who needs a low-cost spay or neuter.

Have storage space in the South Hills? We could use some help! Check out the post below!

☀️ We know it’s blazing hot right now, but winter will be here before we know it! ❄️

We’re already starting to prepare for our annual Winter Cat Shelter Project and are looking for a little help from our community.

Pittsburgh C.A.T. / Homeless Cat Management Team is in need of garage, warehouse, or storage space (preferably in the South Hills) to store clean Styrofoam coolers that will be used to build winter shelters for community cats.

📦 We currently have about 30 coolers and expect to collect up to 80 total. We can divide them between multiple locations if needed, but we’d like to keep at least 20 together at any one location.

The coolers would be stored now through late September/early October, when they’ll be moved to our shelter-building location.

If you have some extra space, or know someone who does, and would be willing to help, please comment here or send us a message!

Every winter, these shelters help countless outdoor cats stay warm, dry, and protected from the elements. Your unused corner of a garage or warehouse could make a huge difference. ❤️🐱

Do you follow our sister organization, Pittsburgh CAT?!

Pittsburgh CAT is the foster and adoption arm of our work! Many cats start at the HCMT clinic and when space is available, transfer to a foster home to get ready for adoption.

The more likes and shares of Pittsburgh CATs, the more feeds they'll show up in resulting in faster adoptions! That then allows us to take in and help even more 💛

Give Pittsburgh CAT a follow, like, or comment and share your favs! 🐾

Good News Update!

Remember this guy we shared in February? When he first came to us, he had a severe skin infection and his mouth was in terrible shape. After months of TLC, medical care, and a full-mouth dental, “Skinner” (formerly known as Sergio) is like a brand-new cat! Well… almost brand new. The only thing that didn’t change is his personality, he is still FERAL!

Since February, Skinner has gone from just over 8 pounds to nearly 13 pounds. His skin has completely healed, he’s feeling great, and it was time for him to move on and live his best life.

We were not comfortable putting him back on a random corner in Carrick. He wasn’t part of any established colony and seemed to appear out of nowhere. Plus, with no teeth, we needed to know he would continue receiving wet food and proper care.

Thankfully, J and J Farms Animal Sanctuary stepped up and agreed to give Skinner a home! ❤️

We are so grateful to them for opening their hearts and providing a safe place for cats like Skinner who don’t fit the traditional adoption mold but still deserve a wonderful life.

If you’re able, please consider making a donation to J and J Farms Animal Sanctuary to help them continue the incredible work they do for animals in need. Every dollar helps them provide food, medical care, and sanctuary for animals who have nowhere else to go.

Happy life, Skinner! We love you, even if you still think we’re all terrible.
