Four days until the Ranch Riding Show on May 1st.
We are so excited to see so many of you coming out to try Ranch Riding for the first time, as well as others more familar coming out to practice and sharpen your skills.
All breeds, disciplines, and skill levels are welcome!
Many of you have signed up for Ranch Riding Flat. This class is similar to Ranch Walk/Trot Flat, but is judged at the walk, trot and lope on the rail. This class reflects the versatility, attitude and movement of a working horse. The horse’s performance should simulate a horse riding outside the confines of an arena and that of a working ranch horse. This class should show the horse’s ability to work at a forward speed while under the rider’s control.
This class (and all classes) will be offered in the following divisions: 9 and under, 10-18, Novice (rider has never placed first in this event), Open.
This is a schooling show, so this is the perfect opportunity to try something new. No need to worry about having the right tack or attire. Come as you are, have fun, and learn something new. This show benefits the PRDC Drill Team.

The Petaluma Junior Riding Club has a great event planned for Friday, May 20th - a Veterinarian Night with Dr. Alicia Benson.
Dr. Benson will teach participants about caring for wounds, different types of sickness including colic, basic feeding and dental care tips, how to take vital signs, how to care for your horse when riding in extreme weather (hot/cold), biosecurity basics, and more.
This is an open event, so you do not need to be a PJRC member to attend. It is open to all ages.
The event will be $10 and covers pizza and other snacks.

Six days until the Ranch Riding Show on May 1st.
One of the classes is Ranch Trail. In this class, participants will work a minimum of six obstacles designed to show a horse’s ability and willingness to perform a normal days Ranch work. Gaits involved depend on class as part of the Trail Course. The obstacles are those that you may except to find doing ranch work (bridge, logs, etc.). These obstacles are different than what you would except at an Obstacle Show (no pool noodles!).
